We are considering introducing drawers under the tables that can be extended to provide more space to tertiary institutions. What are your views? :)
then not much leg space how?
the drawers are for?
extended drawers mean? they are 1.5m deep?
The extended drawer will have a height of about 1.5 cm that can be drawn out from the front of the lecture table itself. Hence there will still be enough leg space. This drawer is to create more space for students to place their lecture notes and writing materials as we have found out that some students find that their schools' lecture tables are too small to accomodate all their notes. They also find bending down to take their writing materials from the ground too inconvenient.
Can the table with extended drawer be folded down and hidden out of the way like before?
What measures are in place to remind students not to forget about their belongings in the drawer?
Will it be an inconvenience to taller students? Will the drawn out drawer cause inconvinience to student moving in and out?
poly
will the drawn-out panel hit the head of the student in front?
Yes, the extended drawers can be folded down and hidden out of the way. Since the drawer is about 1.5 cm in height, it will be used mainly to place more lecture notes or writing materials.
We assume that students know that they have to bring their materials along with them when they leave the lecture theatres.
True, taller students will have a disadvantage. This is one of our limitations too, as the drawn-out panel may hit the front student's head. Maybe we can limit the dimensions of the extendable part so that it will not cause disturbance to the taller students who are sitting in the front.
We can only hope that students do not move in and out of their seats for toilet breaks that often.
Overall, do you guys think that this is a feasible idea? We will try to overcome the limitations. Thanks!
If it provides lots of benifits and the student like it go ahead!
Because as a poly student i agree that lecture tables are very small and things keep falling off!
Why not doing a survey with the students?
the whole lecture hall shd revamp
bigger seats and flap tables.
or just make every table a tablet.
I hardly use the table for note-writing.
I just put stuff on my legs and write.
Oh I should add that my exams do take place on LT tables from time-to-time.
Going to a LT is like attending a movie screening the seats in my previous are so comfy that I feel like sleeping after seating on it.
When you do projects like this, the most important aspect is the sustainability, ease of installation/removal, and flexibility of the design.
@jocelyntxh: We are already did a survery but we need more replies. Care to help us? :D

What other suggestions to do you all have for the table? We described our design on top, thank you :)
Re: SBS2601D
If you put stuff on your legs to write, wouldnt it be very uncomfortable to write and wouldnt your posture be very bad because you have to always bend down to write ?
And if you take exams in the LT, dont you find the tables small to put all the papers on and to write at the same time ?
