Today, Uber officially launched its app in Singapore. Uber is a startup company that makes an app that allows commuters to request for a limousine. Launched in San Francisco in 2010, the company has since expanded into many cities in the United States and Europe, and have chosen Singapore to be their first Asian venture.
To be clear, Uber is not a limousine or taxi company, rather, the eponymous app that they make allows limousine companies to quickly find potential passengers. In essence, they are the middle man between commuters and limousine companies. The app is presently available for iPhones and Android devices. And once users have registered with Uber, they can immediately request for a limousine to bring them to their desired destination.
Once you've requested a driver and your pickup point is confirmed, the app shows you, in real-time, the location of your driver and your estimated waiting time.
The app itself is intuitive and easy to use. Once the app is fired up, it pinpoints your pickup location and gives you a rough estimate of how long it’ll take for your limousine to arrive. Speaking of which, the app also handily features a estimation utility to give you a rough idea of how much it will cost to go to your destination. Once your pickup location and destination is confirmed, you can even use the app to track your limousine’s location on the map and check on his or her arrival.
Upon arrival at your destination, there’s no need to pay the driver as charges are billed directly to your credit card. As for costs, Uber uses luxury vehicles and is positioned as a luxury service, and is charged accordingly. To ensure quality service. Uber even screens drivers to ensure that they meet their strict standards..
For Singapore, the base fare is $7 and there’s a minimum fare charge of $12. Every kilometer at speeds of above 18km/h is charged at $2.25, while every minute under 18km/h costs you $0.85. Clearly, Uber is considerably more costly than your regular taxi.

I think....
imperial limo is the main contractor who partner with this German Über app.
they will send their cars first if available.
then... Imperial limo has their contractors who are self employed one man show with E class, S class. Audi A6 etc...
so these contractors have to register with UBer and Imperial and they will get jobs via their smartphone app...
Fare is calculated by smartphone app GPS based on distance. I think imperial limo gets a levy too upon every successful job??

It's ok for these self employed people to be a contractor for hese big limo companies like Imperial Limo, Royal Limousine Pte Ltd, Roset Limo, Tour East, San Tours, Lion Tourists, Downtown, C & P, SixT,
these big limo companies have contracts with many corporate companies as they are deemed to be more reputable and reliable. They have a healthy cash flow, have a fleet, are well established. They might be quite costly as compared to Merc cab or Chrysler but the corporate organisations are willing to pay for the brand.
imperial limo itself is servicing many hotels but heard they lost Ritz Carlton, Regent, four seasons to Downtown but they still can survive, no worries as their corporate accounts have quite a fair bit too.
bit the rule of the thum is let's say the price they charging their customers is $55, they throw to you at $40.. They must at least make $15 from throwing their job to you.

Dun say like that leh... $40 is better than sitting down nothing to do.. For a E class limo driver who is paying near to $2000 for his car per month(cost $200+k)... Just do it lah.. Sit down earn nothing...
And then this imperial don't just give you one arrival, from what I heard from my friends who are their sub con, they give you many jobs, whole month an add p to $2000 plus, for newbies, tis amount canna their instalment.
for those more established, of course they can do less of their jobs.. But during non peak ours, you got a extra $40 to earn, why not??
