Why are they called Durian Heads? What's the logic??

I have nothing against DH , in fact i admire them for having the capabilities to capture a whole hotel for their livelihood. Its not easy, when i started out , i had the same plans , to attack all the major hotels.
Approached conrad , asia hotel , M hotel and a couple of others hinting them of some 'benefits' should they use me, they nodded and took my card . Did some follow ups along the way but they never responded in a positive manner.
So for the hotel to actually use the services of the DHs , theres gotta be something and for this up till today , i very pei fu these people.

The only hotel i made some inroads to was Roxy Mercure , then i had to fight for jobs with the MICE group. When u come as a competitor , people will stare at u with dagger looks haha.
But my frendship with the bellboy was quite good , so he usually passes 1or 2 left over jobs to me to do. ok la enuff.

ever since I came into Pte Limousine industry......
DHs are just a piece of.....
Oops... sorrie... not referring to Sam.seah....
I don't do their jobs... so, DHs or Rambutan heads.... who cares ?

glossory page on Limo lingo? U must be kidding. Haha. DH is a person who has Hotel's jobs to be arranged out. He has the priority to the jobs. If he cannot fulfil these jobs' obligations, he will arranged out thru the walky talkie group talk. Normally, there r a levy for every job... Can't go too deep into it... DH a respected person who? Errr... Not all deh.... Many r temperamental people who expect u to be Number one in many areas. Just for fixed paid trip... Expect this, expect that.... My foot. Haha.

Anyway, they may have the " CONTACTs " to secure frequent jobs from... normally the hotel outlets.... If there isn't any support from fellow limousine taxis drivers... Their contact will probably stop calling them totally. Hence, DHs needs limousine members more than the group's members need them. Haha.

This So Bo Lan group, why still call So Bo Lan because the 1 holding the line still under So Bo Lan.......
In fact, now become Rojak.....no more pure CDG Mercedes, smlj company also inside.....

Will this happen if the bellboy arranges thru a DH? Will the driver LJ here and there? dont give face to the bellboy also must give face to the DH right?
Partly one of the reason why i gave up limo cab besides the attire is in order to get first dips to the MSW, i need to be close to the DHs , learn how to play mahjong , learn how to womanise , learn all the bad traits be ar ka liao then will be placed on priority queue. The term 'inner circle ' pretty much applies to limo then.

Im glad my encouragement has turned into something good for u. Own vehicle , own clientele.
Compare to the times u were in T Shirt driving the Silver Crown , u have indeed advanced.
For me , i dont see driving a merc cab as anything close to moving forward.
When i was a group member back then, one member announced on air that he has changed from the square lamp ( back then if im not wrong rental is $110) to the CDI ( rental $128).
One of the Chief sounded out ' congratulations XXX for upgrading yourself.
i was like ' huh? omfg hahahaha wtf.

My thinking very simple, everyone start from somewhere, ie Normal to limousine cab to pte limo, and those who are supreme, might start a business and operate fleet of transportation business like knn....Woodland Transport.......
Most of us had to crawl first before started to run or even fly......
But when one had accumulated experience and lobang, mustn't forget where they came from........

DH mean business, is suppose to be proper documented, they don't deal with bell boy or bell manager.......
Who do they alias with? Non other than the Concierge......
A concierge (French pronunciation: [kɔ̃sjɛ�ʒ]) is an employee of an apartment building, hotel or office building who serves guests with duties similar to those of a butler.
No handy panky business......Limo was assign according to the requirement of the guests......
So what implication will arrive?.......Contract been sign, payment is audited, so we had to be very clear on this........
Of course some half past six DH like to deal with bell boy, than good luck to him......

I always believe in team building and team work.......
Even in my current job, team work play a larger part......
Self-sufficient? You never know........
Many of the DH that I know DONT gamble heavily or womanizing or party goers or need someone to carry balls........
Most are successful and willing to impart their skill unselfishness to those newbies who are willing to learn and excel in limousine trade......
Usually is tia kong, all DH like that or like this, and people started to have a bad impression on DH........
Don't forget, they are once in newbies shoe also.......
Knn, spent my lunch time typing, ok la.....not to against anyone here, but do remember, limousine driving don't just stop at PTE LIMO.....There's more things to venture out provided one are money orientated......
Some DH I know also wear jean and polo shirt.......

I wont go so much as to say they are pieces of shit.
I believe hotels will still continue to use DHs and this cannot be eradicated. Hotels also want ease of operations. Do they want a few thousand unknown ah kows , ah ters dispatched by the Taxi cos to serve their guests or just 1 solid , powerful individual with back up vehicles ready or them?

I had mention before, many self proclaim DH is always those half past six DH, and always the knn type..........and mainly driving limo cab.........
The real DH........from outlook, you don't even know he is the one.........
And not necessary must be driving Pte limo...........
Nevertheless, these days, hotel jobs is tough.......with CDG aggressively trying to penetrate to this area, making life much more tougher for many people.........
But beside hotel, there's also other area where business can be carry out too.......that's where team work and team spirit come into pictures........
I might not be driving anymore, but if one day, I decided to return to this trade(hopefully not,hahaha), I believe, many will welcome me back with open heart and not having the idea that, knn......this guy coming back to share our pie..........lol

We should not be too harsh on our words saying DH are piece of xxxx.
I do agree that all of us hold steering wheel... Yes, Maybe it's true that these DHs tunnel jobs to their khakis who can carry balls.
I have nothing against them too but to me, it's quite simple.
For a group to be successful, you need to have
1) a few powerful callers
2) a lot of workers who are waiting for jobs
3) many hungry Luohans who are willing to take all kinds of jobs
If the whole group got no callers, members die cock stand, peak hour, Walkie talkie have radio silence... Lol...
Just to side track a bit. Nowadays where got so many durian jobs from eg, xxx hotel to Clarke quay, MBS, Paragon? These near near one they take 2 taxis also good lah... Now pax know how to calculate, their maths all A1...
If they want flat rate, chances are those far west and far north jobs lah...no need worry peak hr, no need worry ERP, etc
