REVIEW 1- 15 June 2012
1. Southwest Monsoon conditions continued to prevail during the first fortnight of July 2012, with the low level winds over the region blowing predominantly from the south-southeast or southwest.
2. During the review period, Singapore experienced thundery showers in the late morning and afternoon, attributed to day time convective heating and the convergence of winds. In addition, "Sumatra" squalls, which bring widespread thundery showers with gusty winds, were experienced between the early hours and morning on a few days. The highest rainfall amount of 92.8 mm was recorded on 3 July 2012 over Jurong. The heavy thundery showers were caused by the passage of a "Sumatra" squall that affected Singapore from the southwest. The squall also brought strong gusty winds of up to 40 knots over the Pasir Panjang area.
3. For the fortnight, most parts of the island experienced above average rainfall. The highest rainfall of 192 mm to 223 mm (150% to 190% above average) fell over the northern and western part of the island around Kranji and Jurong East. The lowest rainfall fell mainly over the eastern part of the island around Changi where 38 mm to 77 mm (average to 50% below average) was recorded. -

Weather Outlook: 17 - 31 July 2012
- In the next fortnight, Southwest Monsoon conditions are expected to persist over Singapore and the surrounding region. The surface winds are forecast to blow from the south-southeast or southwest.
- During this period, thundery showers are expected on 3 to 4 days mainly in the late morning and afternoon. In addition, widespread showers with occasional gusty winds due to "Sumatra" squalls are likely in the predawn hours and morning on 2 to 3 days.
- Rainfall for July 2012 is likely to be average to above average.
- In the next fortnight, Southwest Monsoon conditions are expected to persist over Singapore and the surrounding region. The surface winds are forecast to blow from the south-southeast or southwest.

House aircon dripping water.....knn, call aircon man, he say bo eng, many many many units to repair.....hot season, everybody aircon breakdown easily....ccb...
