I think it make more sense that since you are not interested in the subject that you are studying. You might as well quit school.Even you stayed and drag on, your result may not be very good, you may not even graduate so why bother to waste time.
Since you are a guy, go for NS while doing a O level job. After you finish your NS, then you might consider to choose to enter poly again for the subject that you are interested in. I think it is better in this way.
Most people dont have direction on what they do when they are young. Even when they have a direction, people changed over time and you cannot predict 10 years down the road, where your interest would be.
I think Mindef take in plenty of clerk at O level. You might want to take a look. And it is one of the better pay job around of O level.

If the TS quit poly and after ns he wants to go back to poly to study again, will he still be eglible for the tution subsidy?
The tution subsidy is alot. 1 year course fee is 10k and after subsidy is 2k only. If no more eglibile for subsidy than 10k a year will be very expensive

pika... afer reading all your post i understand that you might continues to study in the future. so i wrote my life for you :P
this what happen to me :) for you consider what a hard path like (path i took)
NS life = study life no cho no outing and keep saving money to pay for food and transport. ( i was luck to get a 8 to 5 job else i cant even study)
My First Job = 1k+ only. not enough for anything... still doing the same couse i started in NS... felt worst then my NS.... haha... (course taken ITE) also try to save as much as i could and join poly full time...
uncle back in school... 1st year cant mix with ppl... by then i was 23 :( all was only 18 :P
3 poor year in poly :) then came out 26 late come in work force... hard to find job...
many many more..... haiz

quit school is no big deal. Lotsa people do that. Anyway, in singapore, there's so many private courses and degree courses. You will probably be tempted and try studying again.
