Excluding air tickets 2k for 10days in japan should be enough. Accomodations wise we can put up with a friend who runs a hostel for backpackers in hokkaido. So from singapore we can take to narita airport then change to domestic flight to hokkaido. 8 hour trip to narita 2 hour trip to hokkaido.
But with the current H1N1 going on going there is taking a huge risk. After all Tokyo has high hits of H1N1 and we have to land there first.
