1. Pay close attention to how you look and present yourself.
Wear something that befits the weather. Get regular haircuts and groom
yourself. If you have a moustache or beard or goatee, trim the sides and do
not keep it unkempt. If you wear a cap, dun wear like those people with caps
just nice on the crown of their head.
2. A true gentleman is polite to everyone. Always be aware of how you can help
people. Wait an extra few seconds to hold the door for the person behind you.
Offer to help an old or pregnant person get their grocery bags to the car.
Even if someone is being stupid, be polite and respectful.
3. Don't swear. Ever.
4. Give girls a little extra respect. Don't be obsequious and don't put every girl on a
pedestal or "worship" them but they'll really appreciate it if you do them favors like
picking them from work, carrying their shopping bag or buying them dinner.
5. Don't talk about yourself much or blow your own trumpet. Girls like to know a little
bit about you so she can understand what you are talking about sometimes.
Get a basic idea of what's going on in music, sports and politics. Know the girl real
well before you start a conversation with her (If she's a finance person and you are
not, I'd rather you do not pretend talking about equities or the stock market)
6. No matter if it is an early night or not, walk her to her door if at all possible. It
doesn't matter how strong she actually is, the fact that she goes home safe shows
how much she means to you.
7. When you're with your girlfriend, remember to keep doing nice things for her. If
she's carrying something, pick it up when she puts it down. Show up with a card or
a flower. Expensive and showy doesn't matter, it's the effort. In fact, a rose and a
heartfelt kiss will keep any girl happy for days.
8. There are some things you shouldn't talk to girls about. Do not talk about other girls
if you are with your girlfriend -_-" . Do not also talk about men's mags like FHM or
Maxim. Girls tend to be more interested in books and music than in sports and
video games though there are plenty of exceptions to every rule. It's fine to talk
about that stuff with your guy friends but a gentleman doesn't do that.
9a.Stand up for your girl. Don't go around punching everyone who looks at her
sideways but if anyone's giving her looks or unwanted advances, intervene. Put
your arm around her shoulder and move yourselves away. The physical contact
reassures her and lets the aggressor know that he's got to deal with both of you.
Do not be a humji kia or behave like a gu niang and tell her that the guy is too
strong for you.
9b. Avoid fighting as it isn't the best way to solve problems but a real gentleman
never backs off when he's challenged, always standing up for himself and his
values. Keep the straight posture, even if your rival is taller than you. Be
reasonable, never use weapons, such as knives or parangs as this kind of
chivalry is from the old days and might end up seriously damaging you. Never call
fight in or against a group because a gentleman engage only in a duel and not in a
scrum. If your opponent is down, do not continue hitting him. You have made your
point. Offer a hand to get him up even though he may give a cheap shot, at least
you know that he can never have the same values as you.
10. Do not talk down to a women ever. It's ok to tease but being cruel is not the way to
go to be a gentleman.
hmm.. wad if number 10 is for the good of the person?
and I dun understand why you failed as one...
Wah...like that being a gentleman is not easy...
i hate being a gentleman.
i love being myself
is master a gentleman?
Always learn how to conduct yourself properly...your first image cast a deep impression to other people. Sounds simple but constantly overlooked.
