Yeah... I think the allure comes in their partly being rather shut off from the rest of the world. Wah Caribbean islands... never really thought about that but like what they say, by the time you're ready for any real trip, your bones are too brittle to carry you further.
Pity Singapore hardly has any room for adventurers, I remember seeing reports of this chick who circumnavigated solo around the world.
Yeah but overall i am still pretty healthy other than those niggling problems I have. So while I can walk, I would wanna travel to places that is far far far far away. That is why places like CHINA can wait. Only when I am dying then I can go to China to see my ancestral village
Well I am so intrigued by the carribean islands. Can you imagine an island with just 1000+ population and you can have a beach hut by the sea all by urself.... no one knows you, no one will disturb you....... -

A mentor of mine had type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, I think it was hereditary but he goes about life the same way. Didn't stop him from traveling but very regimental in his daily activities. Jogs and hikes regularly, healthy diet, he gulps vitamins and he stays away from booze (whenever possible ), today he's still fit at 59 turning 60 this year.
Met a couple in their late 50s also, still very zen and hip, the husband a real poet but had minor stroke on his neck a few years back and still that did not stop him from anything. Told me some stories of the time when they backpacked together through morocco and to many places.
Saying goes most of us are simply toads... and we are going to stay that way... Toads don't make laws or change any basic structures, but one or two rooty insights can work powerful changes in the way we get through life. (HST)
China near lah... transmongolia express has neat sceneries. Beach hut to yourself? Yeah I reckon, sometimes all you need is a solid hut and good books, gets you through the season. -
