I think if you're air trekking, might as well try trip planners like this http://www.airtreks.com/, they could work out a tad cheaper since you're on a shoestring budget (especially in europe).Originally posted by gasband:No lah, its on my own account lah....where got company so good pay for my holiday hahaha....When I say depending on work meaning if I can arrange for my work to be properly handed over for 2 weeks, then I can go earlier in Aug lor or else it will be in Oct. haha....
Anyway I hope to take the budget airlines or euro star to get from country to country....
Quite looking forward to this trip.....and coming up in 2009....USA!
Hmm u sure about the euro star? coz i wont recom using them if u are over 27yrs as the student or young adult discount dun apply and it will be ex even if u buy the 1 month unlimited ride pass. I rather u do ur planning 1st and travel ard Europe using their budget airline such as ranair or easyjet. It would be faster and more affordable if u are only going to a few places. But if u intend to visit more place, might as well rent a car and drive. Just my 2 cent. My think u are more interest in soccer stadium tour. kekeOriginally posted by gasband:No lah, its on my own account lah....where got company so good pay for my holiday hahaha....When I say depending on work meaning if I can arrange for my work to be properly handed over for 2 weeks, then I can go earlier in Aug lor or else it will be in Oct. haha....

HEy thanks for that recommendation, will check that out. To be honest, I do not know what to do for the rest of my trip. My main purpose is to watch soccer at Liverpool and I gather since I am there in Europe already, I might spend some more time there in some other parts of Europe haha...but I guess I will have to get my fren there to advise me too on the schedule before I confirm where I am going....Originally posted by soleachip:I think if you're air trekking, might as well try trip planners like this http://www.airtreks.com/, they could work out a tad cheaper since you're on a shoestring budget (especially in europe).
Why USA? What about the central and south?
yeah my main purpose is watching soccer....for a liverpool fan, going to anfield is like a pilgrimage....especially its going to close in 2 years time....its a once in a lifetime thing....Originally posted by EarlNeo:Hmm u sure about the euro star? coz i wont recom using them if u are over 27yrs as the student or young adult discount dun apply and it will be ex even if u buy the 1 month unlimited ride pass. juz my 2 cent
Some globe trotters on budget plan their itinerary in advance and use air trek or calculate their air miles. For states that are close to one another, they opt for travel by land and sometimes, take domestic flights from whatever amount they manage to save along the way.Originally posted by gasband:HEy thanks for that recommendation, will check that out. Well as for USA, I have never been there before and I guess its a different kind of experience from Europe so I would love to be there at least once...in fact I have a 5 year travel plan...., its always ONE small tour, ONE medium Tour and ONE big tour haha!
2008 - Bangkok, Hongkong/Vietnam, Europe
2009 - Bangkok, Taiwan, USA
2010 - Bangkok, Cambodia, Eastern Europe
2011 - Bangkok, TBC, Scanadavia
2012 - Bangkok, TBC, Melbourne/Egypt
Well I guess this is my plan, hopefully it comes to a pass...i dun see any problems lah unless I get married WAHAHA....
Haha! Bangkok is a tradition for me every year as I go there to tailor clothes and pants every year. I also like the food there!Originally posted by soleachip:Wah BKK every year? It's so dull and lifeless there... all grey and gloomy and so much like Singapore. If you're in Vietnam might as well cross the border and visit Cambodia too.
If I were you, I'd choose London, Manchester then Liverpool for the match.
Fly to Paris, then If I'm not wrong, from then on you can get to Bruges ---> Amsterdam ---> Berlin ---> sleeper train from Berlin back to London as as to save from one way ticket.
As for Egypt, save it for another shot probably from Cairo to Casablanca, but that's going to be real steep. As for getting married no worries, you can get married multiple times when you travel so might as well blow all your options.
North America nothing one lah dude, go South and become a nomad better... pick up Spanish and book the Inca, Salar de Uyuni then cross Atacama.
Hai... back to work.
Yeah... the air tickets cost so much as long as you're in SE Asia no matter which part of S.America it is. Heh, for the Mecca, have to buy salt tablets, spend a fortune getting visas and having the legal vaccines before you can even set foot on the Iguacu.Originally posted by gasband:Haha! Well Vietnam or Hongkong next year, if yeah it is Vietnam, I might just visit Cambodia too...
And I am indeed landing in London, then Manchester then Liverpool....thats the plan for England...after that I am not so sure liao haha
Yeah Egypt is a must go for me...I am very intrigued by the pyramids and Sphinx.
SOUTH AMERICA is my MECCA lah....its like so far away and will cost alot that I need to plan beyond 2011 haha! But it is a must go!
haha the cost is one thing...but i have heard horror stories of the flight to South America.....i think i can die from it hahaha....going to Europe already is a challenge for me to stay in the plane for that long...i wonder how I can stay in a plane for much longer...thats why i must go for more long haul trips to build up stamina first hahaha.....Originally posted by soleachip:Yeah... the air tickets cost so much as long as you're in SE Asia no matter which part of S.America it is. Just hope they establish more direct routes from Asia to places like Santiago and Buenos Aires. Hopefully PAP can plan more kopi sessions with Morales, shake hands more often and build more embassies. I reckon the political scene really needs to be more responsive to the outside world, especially Bolivia before air tickets can get cheaper...
If not, fly to Australia first then over the South Pacific (I think).
Wah piang... I am so outta here.
