I know that, so when the collar came out of her tiny narrow head in the struggle, and after she ran off. I didn't chase.Originally posted by allentyb:never let loose a jack russel, because they will run so fast and you will never be able to catch them
Obviously ...Its a no brainer. But what would you do to get out of the situation?Originally posted by mancha:When out walking small dogs, always be alert for big dogs.
Its a no brainer, big dogs will always fight small dogs, and the reason is very obvious.

I like your sense of humour.Originally posted by PointBlue:Place bets on the winner and cheer.
That's what I guess Spot did. When we checked her all over, we saw some pinkish stain on her white fur.Originally posted by allentyb:jack russell = hyper active = and they never give a damn to big dogs at all, they will still attack big dogs
my ex has two jack russell, imagine how active, they can be...........
Get compensation from the big brown dog's owner for not leashing his/her dog and letting it run out of the house compound unsupervised. If not go to the police and report them for endangering the lives of pedestrians. You're ok as you had your Jack Russell leashed.Originally posted by Xiaozzhen:Actually it is not mine, my sister's rather.
I walk every morning. But once a week, I'll walk Spot, my sis's Jack Russell.
But yesterday morning, I stopped a while to admire a house under renovation, when Spot was pounced by a big brown dog, at least 5 times bigger than her.
In the fierce struggle, and in the midst of the barking, the collar came loose, and somehow, everything, including my handphone were on the road. I can't remember much in the panic. I thought I kicked the brown dog, my legs are kinda of aching and I used the only weapon I had - Spot's blue water bottle.
Then I saw the owner and I screamed for her to get that dog off. Spot managed to run free and was almost knocked down by a coming car.
But the miracle is Spot is not hurt and neither am I. I ended up with a very fast beating heart, weak jelly legs and today, aching thighs.
What would you do, if you were in my place?
I'll definitely do that if it happens again... I hear from her neighbour she lets her brown dog out often and the dog pounces on cats and some small dogs.Originally posted by FocusPoint:Get compensation from the big brown dog's owner for not leashing his/her dog and letting it run out of the house compound unsupervised. Get a bigger dog. Maybe get a bear.Originally posted by Xiaozzhen:I'll definitely do that if it happens again... I hear from her neighbour she lets her brown dog out often and the dog pounces on cats and some small dogs.
I did ask her after the attack how she cpuld let her dog out unleashed, and she fringed ignorance tt " don't know how come, I just came out a while to put my garbage away".
But sometimes, difficult to complain so much, she is my mom's and sister distant neighbour... sigh!!!
if i were u, i will confirm complain since this is not the 1st time that it happened.Originally posted by Xiaozzhen:I'll definitely do that if it happens again... I hear from her neighbour she lets her brown dog out often and the dog pounces on cats and some small dogs.

Good idea! TxsOriginally posted by elindra:Hmmm what I did in the past was when I see a dog bigger then mine and barking fiercely at him what I'll do is pick up stones and sticks just in case
Once one attempted to attack and I pretended to throw a stone and it ran away
I think next time just pick up sticks and stones and throw it at the bigger dog since you can't find water.

But not when your dog is involved.
