Simon Cowell is infuriated by Bruce Springsteen's reported $100 million (£51 million) deal with Sony BMG - insisting he should be entitled to a larger sum from the record company than the rock star.
The acid-tongued American Idol judge and music mogul believes his contribution to the label's sales is worth up to $500 million (£256 million), because he has helped shift millions of albums through the TV reality franchise - and thinks it unfair he has been offered the same monetary contract as the Born In The Usa star.
He says, "I sell more records than Bruce Springsteen... If he got 100, I should have got 500. In the last five years, I've probably sold over 100 million records."
"By doing Idol, I signed the biggest artist on the planet, and it's called Idol because every single Idol winner is now signed through Sony BMG."
