LOS ANGELES. March 11. KAZINFORM - Mary J Blige and Jamie Foxx have taken top honours at the Soul Train Awards.Blige won best R&B/soul album by a female artist for The Breakthrough, while Foxx picked up the male award for his album Unpredictable.
But neither turned up to collect their awards at the ceremony in Pasadena, California, on Saturday.
The Isley Brothers, who won best album by a group for Baby Makin' Music, were there and Ronald Isley performed a tribute to the late James Brown.
Ronald Isley is currently waiting to begin a 37-month prison sentence for tax evasion.
Other winners included Beyonce, who scooped best single by a female for Irreplaceable, and John Legend, whose song Save Room took the male equivalent.
Gnarls Barkley won best single by a group for Crazy, Ne-Yo was named best new R&B, soul or rap artist and Jay-Z took the Michael Jackson Award for best video for Show Me What You Got.
But just two winners in the competitive categories were present - The Isley Brothers and Webstar & Young B, who picked up best R&B, soul or rap dance cut for Chicken Noodle Soup.
Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was there to collect an honorary award, the Sammy Davis Jr Award for entertainer of the year.
"I just can't believe I got the Sammy Davis Jr Award," she said. "I'm standing on the same stage where I made the top 32 of American Idol."
Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds was presented with the Stevie Wonder Award for outstanding career achievement in song-writing, while Jermaine Dupri got the Quincy Jones Award for outstanding career achievements; KAZINFORM has learnt from BBC News.
