Muse was named Best British Live Act last night (Wednesday, February 14th) at the Brit Awards, the U.K. equivalent to the Grammys. The show, which was held at the Earl's Court arena in London and broadcast live on British television, also featured a five-song performance by Outstanding Contribution To Music honorees Oasis. Other winners included Arctic Monkeys, who were named Best British Group and won Best British Album for their debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, and the Killers, who walked away with Best International Group and Best International Album for Sam's Town.
One of Muse's strengths as a live act is the band's ability to adapt itself to whatever size audience it's playing for, as singer and guitarist Matthew Bellamy told us: "We're quite used to sort of changing around the kind of slots we play and where we play. We've kind of been doing that for years really. Like, one minute you're playing stadium gigs in England, next minute you're playing sort of like to a few thousand people in Malaysia or something, you know, or whatever, or 500 people in Atlanta, wherever. So I mean, we're quite used to sort of adapting ourselves to whatever situation we're in, you know."
Muse will return to the U.S. for an opening stint on the second leg of My Chemical Romance's next tour, scheduled to begin on April 14th in Houston, Texas.
Muse is touring in support of its fourth album, Black Holes and Revelations, which features the current single "Starlight."
The band plans to return to the States on its own following the tour with My Chemical Romance.
