Javi Garcia joined from Benfica
ROBERTO Mancini ended a summer of friction with his Manchester City board by splashing out over £37million in the final 24 hours of the transfer window.
Mancini completed deals for Javi Garcia (£16m), Matija Nastasic (£12m), Scott Sinclair (£6.2m), Maicon (£3.1m) and Richard Wright (free) in a frantic day of wheeling and dealing, which also saw Nigel de Jong, Roque Santa Cruz and Stefan Savic leave the club.
After the £15m capture of Jack Rodwell from Everton, he has spent over £52m in the window – but failed to land main targets Eden Hazard, Robin van Persie, Javi Martinez or Daniele De Rossi.
Mancini said: “I was frustrated but now I am happy. When you finish the season you talk about some players but sometimes maybe it is not possible to take all the players you want. But these players will improve our team.”
Of the five signings, only Sinclair is likely to figure against QPR today.
40m of reserves.
I guess City will be working with the sam starting 11 as the last season, Rodwell is just to cover the injured Barry.
Thats still very decent though, but not enough to complete on all comptetions yet.
Man City is in serious danger of not qualifying for the CL group stages, just like last season. his record in CL is abysmal thru Inter Milan.
lolx even dortmund has more shots than man city ....
