  will be played on 19 may to determine the last promotion spot to the premiership. west ham beat blackpool 4 - 0 and 4 - 1 home and away this season. everything will be for nothing if they were to lose this tie at wembley.

  amazing blackpool missed lots of chances. how did they not beat west ham by a few goals?? final score blackpool 1 - 2 west ham welcome back to the premiership west ham, reading and southampton.

  EXACTLY 47 years to the day, Bobby Moore lifted the Cup Winners’ Cup trophy here in North West London.

  Kevin Nolan held aloft a far less prestigious piece of silverware yesterday but one which carried the greatest prize in world football — £90million and promotion to the Premier League. 

  The majority of West Ham fans who blew their bubbles here will have been far too young to remember Moore and his team’s famous 2-0 win over 1860 Munich. 

  But this was more important as failure would simply have been catastrophic for a club which threw everything at bouncing back from the Championship at the first attempt. 

  Other teams in the division had found it hard to swallow that West Ham paid £32million in wages this season — more than some Premier League sides.
