StarHub unveils Euro 2012 pricing
SINGAPORE: S$58.85 —— that is the price early—bird subscribers will pay for the UEFA Euro 2012 matches, said StarHub, the official broadcaster of the competition.
The Pay—Per—View pack is the first piece of exclusive content acquired since the Cross—Carriage measure was introduced by the Media Development Authority (MDA) on 12 March 2010.
This means SingTel’s mio TV will also be showing the matches.
StarHub will offer all 31 matches live.
Those who subscribe later —— from 1 May —— will pay a higher price of S$69.55.
The prices are more than double of the last Euro championships in 2008.
StarHub said the increase is due to higher content costs.
mio TV customers can contact StarHub to sign up and pay the same price.
MDA said government intervention is not to address pricing, but to give customers more choices.
Consumers will not require multiple set top boxes or switch pay—TV retailers to enjoy exclusive content.
I'm not sure about others' views but I definitely feel that the price is a little too expensive isn't it? I do remember the price for the 2010 World Cup cost $40 more but it includes 33 more matches. I had predicted the price plans to be around $40 and not more and $58.85 is a li more than I expected!
Guess what? I may choose not to subscribe to he package as all Euro 2012 games are broadcas live and free On Indonesia'S RCTI! All we need is just an ordinary antenna which can be purchased in any provision shops and adjust our tv frequency. I believe more Singaporeans will be doing it instead of playing 'victims' to Pay TV's ridiculous pricings.
I really wonder why other counries can broadcast games for free and but not in Singapore!
I leaves me wih his conclusion: Poorer countries knows what it is like to be poor and willing to help everyone out as value is more important to them than money! But in Singapore, the governmen is rich and money talks! Without money, no one cares about you! But with money, nothing is impossible in Singapore!
No money, no see ball.
I refuse to be financially raped by the telcos to watch like less than 1/2 of the 31 matches.
not gonna pay, either go kopi shop or my friend's hse to watch
I have decided not to be held to such ransom and won't be subscribing to it. Forget the Euro...
sianz leh
mio stadium dun wan give us free
I hear a lot of people all giving this a miss.
All going kopitiam or pub to watch.
At the rate they are increasing, soon it will $100 - $150 at least for the next WC or Euros.
