Manchester City will take on Liverpool in the Carling Cup semi-finals, with Crystal Palace's reward for a 2-1 win at Old Trafford a clash with fellow Championship side Cardiff.
Both Palace and Cardiff will be looking to draw inspiration from Sheffield Wednesday, who were the last club from outside the top division to win a major trophy back in 1991.
But whoever makes the final at Wembley will be heavy underdogs against seven-time League Cup winners Liverpool or current Premier League leaders City.
City will play the first leg at home, before visiting Anfield for the second leg while, in the other tie, Palace will welcome Cardiff to Selhurst Park before travellling to the Welsh capital.
Carling Cup semi-final draw:
Manchester City v Liverpool
Crystal Palace v Cardiff City
Ties to be played on the weeks of the 9th and 23rd January
whoever win is going to win the league cup. the semi finals, ironically, is the final lol.
since its a chance to win a cup in the final, the 2 teams will put up a strong team for sure. no more youngsters.
i knew it
they will pair this city and liverpool up
for wad i see , liverpool seem to better to deal with top 4
3 win 2 draws , wow
City entertain Pool in Jan 2... Then meet them again the next week in the 2nd leg... Like double Chelsea all over again... lol.

Man City v Liverpool
Only City have to play Spurs right before they play Pool away in the 2nd leg... So they may have to change some players there...
Good... they will square it out.... Winner takes it all.
Tired up their players (probably with injuries)...
Premier league games slip up.

thats what I am thinking along the lines too haha.
but then they may play their kids, who knows.
its going to be a tough match but liverpool will win .
You have examine what other fixtures that Man City have during that period.
I rather Liverpool remains as the underdog so that they can win.
When they are expected to win, they will lose it due to overconfidence.
Wait till they overcome Man City, then they can talk about Cup Final.
Some of the players are talking all the crap even though they did not contribute much.
