  Plea: Terry has won 68 caps for the national side

   

   

   

  John Terry has told Fabio Capello he wants to lead England against Spain next week despite being the subject of a formal Metropolitan Police investigation into allegations of racism.

  Terry, Sportsmail understands, has told the England boss he is not guilty of racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand and wants to play in the Wembley friendly against Spain as well as that against Sweden three days later.

  Capello plans to name Terry and Rio Ferdinand, Anton’s brother, in today’s provisional squad — not released publicly — but will seek advice from the FA about including Terry in the final squad, to be announced on Sunday.

  The police confirmed they will interview the Chelsea and QPR players who were in the vicinity of the alleged incident on Wednesday.

  I think fans would be happier if he did not slip and fall during important games in the CL or in the EPL.
