You may want to read about Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus (search on the net), this is one of the dangerous complications and warrants and emergency treatment. Otherwise, the course of the disease may take from 4-6 weeks depending on the individual to recover from the illness.
Is your SO taking any antiviral medications for his illness or just the pain killers? It has been shown that such antivirals such as acyclovir terminates the proliferation of such viruses by preventing its reproduction hence leading to a shorter course of illness. It may also help in relieving pain and is a welcome sight for the patient.
Oh I see.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Xiaomayi,
Let's see...to reach out and hang something, you will need only 1 arm and the length of the body below that arm to the toes. That's what you have to measure. If the height is contributed by a longer neck or bigger head, it does not matter, does it? Also it is the arm span of one arm that is important, not both arms.
Yeap! They are very expensive as they can get... New blister formation during the course is possible, it's just the course of the problem and the aggressiveness of the virus.Originally posted by Wanda:Thanks for your reply, renorenal.
Waa...4-6 wks to recover. My SO (late 30s) has been on mc since last Mon, and yes, he had been given antivirals (very expensive), and eating soft foods. Since new blisters appeared yesterday, he went to see the doc again this morning and was ask to continue with the medication.
You mention that 'boosting up immunity ought to be done prior to an infection, not during an infection as it will be rather pointless' - how can one boost his/her immunity to this virus/infection? Thanks, again.
I cannot tell you much about your skin problem as the history from the doctor who treated you was inadequate. Most skin rashes are caused by viruses yes, but most skin disorders are caused by fungal infections (which is rather or nearly almost impossible in a person who has a strong immune system). Those who contracts fungal infection more easily are patients who are on steroids medication for a prolonged period of time, having diabetes, tuberculosis infection, cancer, on chemotherapeutics medication, or some other endocrinal related problems.Originally posted by hamster_milo:Do you happen to know what can cause RBCs to stack together in a way they form something call a rouleax formation? Out of curiosity I went to a local chinese medical clinic to learn about their "live cell technology" whereby they uses a microscope and a slide of thin blood flim and a dried blood flim to study the RBCs for illness. I find their technology interesting. But their diagnosis kinda very general. And the physician said my RBCs are seriously stacked together, like they sticked together and said quite impossible given my age.. kinda worrying.. and said that itself can quite explain my fatigue. But I made a thin blood flim myself too but it didn't really look that bad. So the chinese physician advised me to excercise more to disperse the RBCs..oh dear if only I can find the energy and motivation to do excercise I won't be there in the first place
Maybe the only time I am not tired is having slept 10-12 hours..
Heehee, I re-measured again based on what you said.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Xiaomayi,

You've got too much free time anywayz, I shall leave this to OM to answer for you...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Heehee, I re-measured again based on what you said.
My sister's length of the body below her right arm to the toes are shorter than me. Very illogical. She's taller than me. How could this be?
If all is well, no matter how much tests have been done, it could be from your mind, in other words, termed psychogenic. Excessive worrying and anxiety over minor symptoms and excessive contemplation over minor details may reveal the true nature of your bodily complains through your mind. Since the mind can't speak for itself, it will relate to you through psychosomatic symptoms (mind - body symptoms).Originally posted by hamster_milo:Ok thanks
Maybe i should re-run an esr soon.. check again see same or not..

So it is as I suspected then Her height is contributed mainly by the head and neck...perhaps she has a longer neck and bigger head?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Heehee, I re-measured again based on what you said.

Rouleax formation in your case is probably an artefact. If you take blood and allow it to stand for a while before making the smear or if the technique is poor, you can can create rouleaux. True rouleaux formation may indicate increased plasma proteins such as in myeloma but it is hardly likely in such a young age. If your ESR is normal and they do not find a paraprotein, threre is nothing to worry about.
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor, a psychologist is not. Psychiatrists can prescribe medication, psychologists cannot. I'll leave it to others to add to the list of differences as an fun exercise....Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:What's the difference between a psychiatrist and psycologist?
Essentially, mild cases can be treated with a chemical that is applied to the affected area. Severe cases can be treated by a surgical procedure to interrupt the nerve supply to the sweat glands.Originally posted by SoulFire21:can tell me again...hehehe
