If you are wearing specs for short-sightedness, you would note that (not all of you, but some of you) there are small little transparent worm like body in your eye if you stare long enough in a bright area and then stare at a dark place...
Do you know why this happens?

Those are commensals, they live in harmony within the oral mucosa, but virulence one often stirs problem and causes sore throats. Mostly viral but there are several that are bacterial. Tonsils often help to eradicate the majority of them, hence weakening them to a lesser amount so that they could not colonize and overwhelm the immune system.
