It is interesting to know that girls generally tend to have this mindset that " A girl/lady must have at least one LV bag."
One of my lady friend explained that ladies need a high class, beautiful and stunning bag for major functions, such as weddings.
Let say, there is a unknown China brand(let say TianLong Brand) which produce bag as nice and as good as LV bag, but at a fraction of LV bag price, will you settle for it instead of the expensive LV bag? Why and why not?
My lady friend gave me a scorn look when I asked her this question. "Errr... NO! I will perfer LV bag." was her answer.
So all this boils down to 'LV Brand.' In fact, by having this verse/mindset " A girl/lady must have at least one LV bag", the company has successfully created a cultural norm - Lady must have LV bag. Hence, some girls, especially teenagers, will scrimp and save just to buy a LV bag which is beyond their finanical capability.
Any comment? Ladies?

On the topic on how companies created sub-cultures in the society, ads seem to be the best way.
Ads are ubiquitous. They are everywhere. Through series of ads and marketing, a company can 'create' a culture which the general public will follow.
Slim ads are good example. They progarate the idea: Slim lady = attractive, confident, self-assured, healthy... Overtime, people developed a paradigm that all ladies should be slim. Now, about 60% or more of the ladies are unhappy with their weight even though only about 25% are overweight. Now, being slim is the norm for modern ladies.
