  What I think is that, they must have accidentally coupled 123/126 tgt, then they noticed it and sent out 124/125 to NSL so that both are on the same line, and they would couple back the original carriages that night, since it would be impossible to do so during the day.

  i believe more likely is they coupled 124/125 first cuz its consecutive. realising it the did 123/126.

  I know it's off-topic, but I'll just ask.

  Can trains couple with different models? Like C151/C651, C651/C751B, C751B/C151 kind of thing.

  doubt so. To begin with SMRT depots wouldn't want to switch the trainsets around due to manpower and compatibility reasons.
