Help on Otaku Subculture

  Hi all! I need all your help for my school research project on otaku subculture right here in Singapore.. if you're an otaku yourself or know what an otaku is, pls answer them. Thanks!!
   
  1. Would you call yourself an otaku?

  2. When did you start to consider yourself or become a part of the otaku community?

  3. What do you think of the otaku community here in Singapore?

  4. Do you usually have gatherings between other otaku members? And what wouldbe the ideal location to meet up?

  5. Do you see being an otaku as one of the important elements in your daily life?

  6. How often do you usually go item-hunting for otaku-related stuff?

  7. What makes you become interested in anime and manga? Is it because of the story, graphics or is there any other reason?

  Oh my gosh, nobody replied to your topic. But anyway, it's a good one so I'll answer you. 1. Everywhere outside Japan, it's okay to be called an otaku. 2. I considered myself an otaku since secondary school because that is when my obsession started. 3. The otaku community in Singapore is growing still. But it's still not very significant until it can be reported as a phenomenon. 4. I don't have meetings with other otakus. Sorry, I can't answer this question because none of my friends are otakus. 5. Being a otaku is definitely a very important element of my private life I guess. 6. Almost every now or then, I'll go to comic connections or even kinokuniya for the manga or light novels. (I have only an interest in anime-styled light novels) 7. Anime and manga have very interesting storylines. The graphics are good but they play a secondary factor. In fact, in my opinion, graphics should not play a main factor because each anime/manga's graphics differ.
