how to get someone started on anime

ok.. don't laugh, but this person is my mother who complains at being bored at work, bored at everything. so i decided to introduce her to anime as she got no interest in sports and much else.
however, stuff like bleach, my first ever anime, i don't think will appeal to her.. can recommend some nice anime for older people like her? right now she's 10 mins into episode 1 of school rumble...

Easiest way is to just take note on what kind of show she usually likes to watch on TV ^^ Other than news that is XD and find out what genre it is. Then just recommend her an anime that drops under those categories ( ^ _ ^ )/
Clannad might work, but a "Slice of Life" type of anime would probably be a good start, such as "Minami-Ke" ^^

Yakitate! Japan. I thought it was funny and intruging when I first watched it.
Or those dorama type Anime like Air, Kanon and Clannad(aka KyoAni doramas). Kanon would be a better bet though.
To hook newcomers, use visual quality and storyline. -

i'd strongly advocate suzumiya haruhi, but then, i dun tink ur mum will be very much interested to see haruhi squeeze mikuru's tits. lol

Can introduce the older series to her. Maison Ikkoku is a good suggestion. That kind of show suits her generation.
