Plot Summary: On one hot summer day in 1983, a transfer student named Maebara Keiichi comes to a peaceful rural village in Hinamizawa. There, he befriends his classmates Rena, Mion, Rika, and Satoko. Accepted as a full-fledged member of the "club," Keiichi and the gang plays all sorts of activities ranging from card and board games to hide-and-seek. But just as Keiichi was beginning to be assimilated in simple rural life, he stumbles upon the dark history of Hinamizawa. As Keiichi dives deeper into the mystery, he finds that his new found friends may not be all what they claim to be.

you should watch this one first, then watch the latest one, the higurashi no naku koroni kai, is to explain what has explain in the past.... and find out who is the murderer

You have to watch Season 1 which is already pretty confusing.
If you start off with Season 2 before watching Season 1. Then you'll lost in the plot. -

Season 1 was ok lar. The gore part was oO and abit repulsive but the 'happy' part was super sugary. The storytelling seemed to be non-existant until the end of S1, where rika started toking abit.
Season 2 started out from Rika's perpective and emphasized alot of the story and flow of how Rika got trapped in Hinamizawa in the year Showa 58? (1983). You get to see alot of Rika's hope and desperation in trying to get out of this endless trap. They also introduced a new character Hanyuu, apparently a spirit Miko (I assumed she was the original Oyashiro-sama)... -
Still thinking should I download and watch this?
Some people have nightmares after watching this.
Maybe I should go download lucky star 1st. -
must watch...very nice imo it shows the emotional struggle of the female lead well..
