The government doesn't want us to download fansubs anymore, and Odex is cracking down on us even though the anime is not licensed?
So instead of whining and endless discussion of how Odex can improve their products, why not discuss on some of the way the pirates can protect themselves from being caught?
Lets see :
1 ) PeerGuardian, a very small sized program that can block off unwanted IP addresses. The current blocklist has over billions of IP blocked, including IP addresses of p2p spies. I am not sure which IP IPOS / AVPS / Odex uses to crack down the downloaders, but... this is Odex's IP Address from pinging their website.
203.116.242.102 I supposed it would be safer to block up the entire 203.116.242.XXX IP Address range.
2 ) Direct Downloads. I am not sure if its even safe anymore.
3 ) XDCC. I am not sure if its even safe anymore.
4 ) This is one part which we can discuss, Fserves.
With Bittorrent, they can easily see the IP Address.
Direct Downloads and XDCC they may be able to bypass the laws and tap into lines somehow, the government will protect them even if they broke the law somehow.
But for Fserves, the downloader is basically requesting a file from another person. So if that particular person lives in a country where there are IP privacy laws to protect them from the tapping of the lines. Wouldn't Odex or any other government entities be commiting a crime if they tap into the connection between the downloader and the Fserver?
After saying so much, I have to admit... I buy Odex products whenever I can too.
