Singapore cracks down on anime piracy

You know, there’s a certain someone whom I really hate on a certain forum. I will fake produce a record of his IP address illegally torrenting a picture that I once drew during a particularly boring physics lecture. I shall then e-mail this “proof” to Singnet and ask for this person’s home address. And if that doesn’t work, I’ll go spend a few bucks to register a company to make the request seem more legitimate…

wat bug me the most is this line "fines of up to $10,000 per infringing article"
if we take a look at the letter that was scanned and posted on the net, the records was attached with the letter was way back in Feb... so if they already have evidence back when it's around Feb, why dont they take any action back then and have to wait until now? trying to feed the small frys into big fat juicy fishes den catch us all ar? -

I doubt anyone would, as relucant to say it but sadly, everyone knows that 'majority' (by saying majority it already quite giving 'face') of the Singaporean only know how to be computer heros... afterall if the government is supporting AVPA to nab all the downloaders, can we possibly write in to the local press to point out the conspiracy? don't forget that local press is controlled. local press are the ones who published the article on AVPA's plans to catch illegal downloaders, will they slap their own face and publish our letters if we write in to them? -

There are people in the blogosphere, who are very prominent and influential people in real life. What about me? Sad to say I'm less than 20 and I don't know much about politics, law and stuffs, so that makes me a computer hero too. Though I'm now trying to pick up and learn some.
Sad to say, it's always a process that takes time. And what needs to be done is for the recipients of these letters to explore his or her options by looking at the things that have been uncovered, then seek legal advice.
It's up to them, as for the rest of us internet community folks, we can only supply the ammo. The firing is up to those people. -

Aiya i tell u, if that company can do a better job than the fansubs, naturally people will get stuff from them. Best is they start selling/ distribution of the anime online like maybe 2days after the show released in Japan. U can do that, get a better sub team? Why not pay abit like 50c per epi also never mind what.
But if u sub so slow, sell your anime like a noob ( 5 episodes for $20). What do you expect people to do? Wait two years before you sub finish? A good example is Naruto and Bleach. U see those sold in the shops. Now already Naruto:Shippuden liao they still haven even finish subbing the first season. My goodness. -
OK one thing that I really not happy about is:
The slow release of anime.
Come on man, Title A came out 2 to 3 year ago and now then you release it? Some titles release halfway then stop releasing, very fun hor.
It's like bull....
There are some few interesting anime released recently this year and if I want to get locally, that means I have to wait for at least 1 to 2 years which is an optimistic prediction.
If not, 3-5 years before we could even get our hands on it.
The worst case scenario would be we will never get our hands on it because they never even intent to license it in sg in the first place.
Plus, they tend to license sh!tty titles and you know what I mean.

But the quality is top tier, the subbing is top tier, the packaging is top tier.

Possible reasons for this clamp down are.
1: Gahmen wants them to do.
2: They want to earn some money through this. -

Anyway my predicted possiblities for the future to come would be:
1) Odex continue to give sh!t quality anime at an expensive rate, AVPA continue to catch, striking fear in SG Otakus' heart causing them not to download. Singapore anime communities/viewers will slowly fall apart and die. In maybe 1-2 years later, not much people will focus on anime, instead focusing on some other things. Animes will slowly cease to exist in SG market.
2) Odex continue to give sh!t quality anime at an expensive rate, otakus in singapore don't give a damn, continue downloading (though direct and some other ways) and watching anime by online video streaming method. AVPA continue to catch but due to too much people downloading and too much sources to covered, AVPA slowly lose the battle (just like against the war against SPAM and the DRM war).
3) Odex decided to improve its quality and releasing rate, however at a slow rate, maybe 1-2 years later (I think impossible for them to do a great improvement at a short time), SG Otakus don't give a sh!T since they are too slow (again) and continue to download/stream from internet with the AVPA is doing a losing battle scenario.

Thats the possiblities I could think of. I think most likely is possibility 1 or 4, since Singapore very Kia Si one, unless all the otakus united then would be possibility 2. -
