aiya, the point is, they want us to buy their stuff legally, but its not justifiable.
they complain of lousy sales, then started a witchhunt on the anime community. but the products they give aren't justified.
so its ok if they hang all the downloaders who didn't want to waste their money buying their crappy products, but nobody can hang them for shooting themselves in the leg for producing crappy products?
even if they hang everyone, they won't improve their sales if they don't practice quality control

1) to those who say Odex is not profiting: i can only say one thing, pls show us the proof tt Odex is indeed not profiting. we got only Odex words for it and apparently Stephen Sing words are losing credibilty because of his forum fiasco. so u r going to believe blindly the words of a single organisation. everything must be in black and white in sg especially. a year ago, durai say he is not cheating ppl of money, so u going to take his word for it since he is NKF chairman......
2) to those who say many ppl will not bother buying the original VCDs/ DVDs just because they have viewed it online just at a click of the finger, i must ask u something, do u represent the whole sg Anime community? have u done the statistics and survey of everyone in Sg anime community and prove tt 80% do not buy? then wat abt in japan? they dun even nid to dl, dl still nid to waste time and waste ur bandwith since they got it for free on their tv. so do u think they buy the anime VCDs and DVDs? they do it by the bulkload. dun bash down the whole anime community and conclude that most of us are freeloaders.
3) the facts i know now is Stephen Sing lied and make a fool of himself by posting the childish remark. a minor (9yrs old kid) is not given a chance. and most impt thing: he seem to have enraged many many ppl to the pt tt ppl are issueing death threats. i have never seen such things in sg b4......

it'll be really sad for the time being, because we won;t be able to catch our favroutie animes for the time being. but it'll be over once we kick Odex's butt. Fear the Otakus!! Odex's Credibilitydropped a long way in just over a year. time to say byebye odex. *waves*

i say that odex is not thinking about a lot things because they are a monopoly.
*notice the increasing amount paralell imports in video stores*
they all come in DVD with very nice packaging. ( dont have an ugly strip on the top and bottom that brainlessly tells people that it is an anime series. like putting: "This is a movie" on a movie dvd/vcd packaging)
these imports also have better subbing(typesetting and consistancy), dubbing, and picture quality. I do watch some anime, but only advent children, and gias2 are on the shelf, the odex boxes are lying somewhere.
then to the person that keeps siding odex.
i dont know y u keep siding them n dont wish to know, but let me tell u this.
a business will not make a money losing move, unless it generates positive publicity. But here, odex is only getting itself negative publicity. Please, use your brains, i agree that odex may not be making a quick buck, they may even see losses in this quater, but they will definately earn money.
they have absolutely failed in their marketing. their marketing unit seems non-existent to start with. no product announcements and promotions, is it cos they simply do not care? -

Now i know itz evil & unright to have family members involved.
but i wished something bad happens to Sing's family and not himself. That way it will eat into this rash decision to start an all out war against Singapore's Anime Organisation, making him regret it evry single second of his remaining life. When ur family members get hurt instead of u, the pain and guilt will be 100x worst den u baring the burden yrself.

There's such thing as capitalism, and the company that does not serve customers' needs ought to roll over and DIE.
And I just remembered a judge in the US throwing out a case in Court where a company that specialises in election software tried to sue a state to buy their products! The Judge rightfully threw the case out of court, especially when the software was screwed! -

Seriously, I don't see whats so illegal about downloading anime. If third party fan-subbers can get anime to us faster than odex, I don't see why a consumer cannot exercise his right to use his internet connection to download instead of buying from "Odex."
As long as we don't download videos that are subbed by Odex, I don't see any grounds for their case at all. Any lawyers here?
