Why the hell would someone buy a episode that is 6months old?

yes. how the f is streaming different from downloading? other than being able to distribute it physically by downloading. streaming? distribution? one can easily circumvent the embedded videos in the flash players in video sites and download them. what different is that? and as you mentioned, odex is slow at releases. if they ban people from downloading, they have to buy where they left off in a bunch of cds wouldnt they?Originally posted by Xephone_xenon:No, most would just stop. Odex is slow in release by 6~12months. People only continue to stream as they dont not believe/know that streaming is also illegal and will be caught.
And if you do not believe that this will only decrease they sales more.

I've already said time and time again.
AVPAS is staffed by ODEX employees. This is the clearest sign of a conflict of interest.
It's a method to gain legality in applying for a court injunction. -
I would like to say that the only 100% way of safety obtaining animes illegally is to head to Johor to buy the pirated vcd/dvd version.

i've always liked rurouni kenshin. i bought the vcds.. very lousy quality, some of the disks were scratched and cannot play.

Even without AVPAS in the picture, ODEX will still do the same thing. Look at who's causing the problem, rather than the surface only.

aiya, the point is, they want us to buy their stuff legally, but its not justifiable.
they complain of lousy sales, then started a witchhunt on the anime community. but the products they give aren't justified.
so its ok if they hang all the downloaders who didn't want to waste their money buying their crappy products, but nobody can hang them for shooting themselves in the leg for producing crappy products?
even if they hang everyone, they won't improve their sales if they don't practice quality control -

Whole thing is a scam. First they set up the AVPAS, do some works to get credits, than set up Odex (both share same address) and begin to get licenses.
Mean time, have someone monitor for 6 months. Than pretent to start warning people in low profile. And starting to issue letter to a few to test water ( They knew well S'porean kaise). Successful than mass mailing.
All those who get letters should unit, engage a lawer together and fight for the case. Stop them from earning half of the proceeding.
For every charge them issue. 50% goes to admin fees which become their profits. Of cources they don't make money hence the *admin fees* are too high.
If *A* are truely concern about piracy, they should do what www.hipfriends.org.sg did. Sadly, more and more well educated making use of LAWs to make personal gain.
