The problem here is that you will need fluent Japanese speaking friends or partners.
Think similarly with those parallel imported cars. Only now that all you anime fans form a cooperative to import anime straight from the Japanese studios' distributors in Japan itself. -
Actually I am wondering, now that they are catching anyone who downloads any anime, be it licensed or unlicensed. Those who got caught for downloading LICENSED animes have received punishment which we all seems to know. But what happens to those who got caught for downloading UNLICENSED anime? Since its unlicensed, no one owns the product and therefore you wouldn't be paying some company for (private settlement). Which leaves you highly possible to be charged in court. With this wouldn't downloading LICENSED animes seems safer than UNLICENSED animes? Or maybe those who download LICENSED animes will have to be charged in court too? I seriously doubt the rights ODEX have to receive 'payment' from those who have already paid.

Went to the Starhub site and i must say that i'm not optimistic about receiving any protection at all.
Under the Legal & Privacy Statement, Privacy sub-heading -

This says it all. It does not state rendering assistance to these agencies limited to a subpoena or a court-issued injunction.

I've been reading lots and lots and lots of blogs and forum all these time.
And now I am wondering, how does Odex actually tracks people?
There has been instances of people getting fined for incomplete torrents, like they download till 85%, then they delete away, and they got fined for the episode they did not download finish. This makes me come to the conclusion that Odex is not doing packet scanning. We all know how Bittorrent works, random bits and bytes are downloaded and pieced together like a puzzle. And if they are using packet scanning to track people down, the bits and bytes coming in and out would be worthless data anyway.
So my speculation would be they are camping on torrents, grab a few random IP Address, then complain to the ISP.
Of course, another way would be monitoring the traffic, which I doubt the ISP let them do so generously, as many other confidential data are also at risk. And they would lose too many customers if too many people are caught.
