[Anime] Wangan Midnight

Well, pretty surprising that many of us may have played the arcade game of it, but barely heard of the manga, and the upcoming anime of it. Well then, by the makers of Initial D: Fourth Stage, Wangan Midnight is slated to be released on 8th June 2007. Which means... yes, it's right around the corner!

Nope. Based on the manga, the protagonist, Akio Asakura, crashed several times with the Devil Z. There's no so-called 'defy laws of physics' where Initial D is concerned. So, yes, Wangan Midnight will be very much a more realistic variant of racing anime...

The first episode is not bad, quite promising although the animation artwork leaves much to be desired. A lot of people will compare this to Initial D, and some of the styles quite resemble Initial D as well. It's relatively realistic (unlike in the game whereby you can turn at 320km/hr) and so far the speeds in the anime have not exceeded 240km/hr yet, and the unrealistic drifting is not portrayed so far.
Still, it's only the first episode, and for those who want the english subs, currently I've only found one fansub, [OMFG] and for those who want the raws can download it from [Q-R] (Quantum Raws).
Just a note, the english subs from OMFG are pretty basic, about those you can get in the 'official' DVD stock subs, and is not very accurate and only has subbing of voices, and does not have elaborate descriptions and meanings (like in Shuffle!), or additional subs on road signs and text in the anime. -

i watched the first ep but it doesn't look promising at all, the graphic is not up to my expected and so i already decided to drop this anime series as i have too much series to follow
