Happy Birthday Fannatic Fann Club!!
Recognised as Fann's only official fan club, FFC attained official legality from the Registry of Societies, Singapore on 18 April 2000
she so skinny and body doesnt look great.
But since starting a new blog on the popular Chinese portal Sina.com on 29 Aug, Fann has offered a rare glimpse into her personal life in 10 postings.
We find out, for instance, that:
Fann, calls herself 'beautiful durian queen', but at the same time worries over having 'durian breath'.
She even offers a snapshot of the view from the balcony of her condominium home in the Orchard Road area.
But the most intimate detail is this: Fann made a mushy love declaration, obviously to Christopher, dated 26 Sep.
'Dear, will you write a poem for me?' she wrote in Chinese.
'Don't wait till I'm gone then write a poem in my memory, because then I won't bear to go...
'P/s: Dear, your love is like a poem in my eyes.'
She added this after gushing over a romantic Chinese poem about eternal love that the late gongfu star Bruce Lee had deftly translated into English.
This posting alone has more than 110,000 hits.
But she didn't specify names, so The New Paper decided to ask her upfront, during a phone interview last Friday.
Fann was speaking from Busan, Korea, where she was invited to attend the 12th Pusan International Film Festival, one of the biggest movie gala events in Asia.
When I asked if it's intended for Christopher and teased that 'it's so sweet of her', she said that she was only writing what she felt at that moment.
Then she got a little flustered over the phone, in a girlish kind of way.
I could almost imagine her blushing at the other end of the line. 'Aiyah, very embarrassing... I'm going to take it down!' she exclaimed.
Pity we couldn't chat any longer, as her manager was rushing her to leave for a red carpet event. But I got the distinct feeling that blogging agrees with Fann.
The New Paper understands that her official fan club Fannatic Fann helped her set up her first blog on its website in April this year.
Its vice president, Ms Charmaine Sim, 26, said that Fann started posting simple messages at first. Then she learnt how to use the desktop publishing software Comic Life, and she has been designing her own pages since.
They come with self-taken photos and detailed captions, multi-coloured backgrounds and cutesy drawings.
The Sina blog (http://blog.sina.com.cn/fannhy) is an extension of her original blog that is only accessible to registered fan club members.
This new one is open to everyone, and despite little publicity, has drawn more than 528,000 hits so far. Sina, a popular Chinese portal, is famous for hosting celebrity blogs to attract netizens. Its No.1 blogger is Chinese actress Xu Jinglei, who has attracted 120 million hits for her musings about life and work.
Taiwanese pop star Jolin Tsai blogs as if she's writing letters to her fans. She calls them 'dear' and signs off as 'Princess Jolin'.
PEEK INTO LIFE
Fann, who just finished filming the Dance Of A Dragon, hopes to give fans a glimpse into her life through her blog.
She said: 'Actually I'm really tied up with my (work) schedule, but I've discovered that it doesn't take much time to write a blog. It helps fans to understand you better, and there's a personal touch.'
It's quite amazing how much she reveals on her blog. Fann writes mostly in Chinese with a smattering of English sentences.
Her first entry entitled 'My life - very blissful' includes a photo of the 'beautiful view' from the balcony of her condominium at night, offering the biggest clue to where she lives.
Then, she screams 'Fire!!!' in an entry dated 2 Oct. In it, she recounts how she witnessed a car bursting into flames right outside her home, complete with 'not so good' photos that she took.
Other blog entries offer glimpses into her showbiz work, like how it was like staying in Prague while filming her first Hollywood foray Shanghai Knights, and being an ambassador for Red Cross China.
In another posting, she calls herself 'Beautiful durian queen' and poses candidly behind a pile of durians. She wrote that she felt like offering the king of fruits to her 'foreign friends' Jason and Jang Hyuk (who also stars in Dance Of A Dragon).
'But I don't know if they'd faint out of fright, so I don't even dare to bring durian puff.
'Even before eating durian, I'd have to think whether I have any awkward close scenes to do (with them) the next day. Talking with durian breath is just not so appropriate right? Am I being paranoid?'
In another posting, she gets paranoid over two stains on her dress, and how she felt like 'giving myself a beating' for inconveniencing the wardrobe crew.
She only hinted at her 'dear' Christopher once though.
Pity we couldn't get him to comment on it. His manager said he is now in China preparing to film a new period drama.
But Fann's fans love reading her blog.
Ms Sim said: 'We feel closer to her, and sometimes it really brightens up our day to read her new postings in the morning.
'Over the years she has opened up.'

Ah Long Pte Ltd is biggest Singapore release in Malaysia
Jack Neo's Ah Long Pte Ltd has become the biggest Singapore release in Malaysia after raking in RM2.22 million in 12 days.
The comedy drama, revolving around a woman gangster boss played by Fann Wong, broke the RM1.07 million record set by I Not Stupid Too, also directed by Neo, in 2006.
Although it took the fourth place when it opened on March 13 on 31 prints, it defied the usual downwards box office trend and shot to the top spot in its second weekend.
"No Singapore films have achieved such box office in Malaysia with a growing momentum instead of receding in its second week. The film has helped us create a viable market there and is on track to hit RM4 million with seven more prints being added this week," said Daniel Yun, managing director of MediaCorp Raintree Pictures.
The Singapore-based company and Scorpio East Pictures co-produced the Malaysia-set film with Malaysian start-up Double Vision, the production arm of Vision New Media.
BVI handles distribution in Malaysia.
The picture has also emerged as a hit in Singapore with S$2.94 million after seven weeks and is currently still on release.
Neo whose films have been ruling the Singapore box office for the past decade is now filming Money No Enough Too, which is scheduled for release on Aug 7.
