Hi guys, I know there are a few threads about car rental companies and reviews but when I checked the date of postings it's pretty much years back i.e. outdated.
So I hope you guys can give me some reviews and tips on which company is the best and why.
Personally I have tried AKA Car Rental for quite a few times and it's not bad but just gotta be more careful when checking and remember to take photos as they may make you pay for unknown damages when the vehicle is inspected upon returns.
Was a P-Plater when I rented so they will require a $100 deposit on top of your rental cost so the first time I rented they told me I broke the suspension which as a noob with zero knowledge on cars I obviously do not know what is that and how I broke it. They do not even send it to the garage for inspection and they immediately know it costs $80. So they took my $100 deposit and offset from there. Felt cheated as if they already knew the cost and really repaired it, why would it still be so easily broken?
Another incident happened to my friend, he rented for a weekend and when he returned it they charged him $200 for a dent which me and him have no idea how it got there. (Suspect is some prankster during overnight parking).
Other than that, the cars are pretty well maintained and location rather convenient. Literally opposite Haw Par Villa MRT Station.
1) Easily assessible location : Opposite Haw Par Villa MRT Station (Just cross the overhead bridge)
2) Allows P-Platers to rent cars
3) 18 Year olds who just passed are welcomed
1) Can only collect at 6pm or 6.30pm (Which in my opinion is a bad idea as it is peak hour and a newbie like me would get super stressed up)
2) Must becareful of any existing/new damages that you may not be aware of (i.e. cannot be seen w/ naked eye unless you have car knowledge)
Anyways, just my 2 cents view. Please share your updated car rental source/tips etc. Anything is much appreciated. Thanks In advanced.
PS: Need to rent a car again soon but I would like to try a new company and preferably near to West or Jurong West area. (I am not a P-Plater and is 21 years old)
We would like to clarify the above. AKA Car Rental have not been taking deposits for rental for a quite a long period. When did you rented a vehicle from us? We only need a partial payment for reservation, upon collection we only need the balance of nett payment for the rental.
Upon checking of car, all our hirers are told to countersign the damages (if any) to avoid any dispute when vehicle is returned. If there is any damages, we will check with our authorized workshop asap to let our customers know the cost of it. And fyi, if the suspension is being broke by you is consider cheap in the market rate.
If my staff overlook the damage why didn't you point it out to him/her? In addition, I'm sorry to say this, we are different from other car rental. Moreover, we have operate for 2 years and that doesn't mean we are the same as other car rental, we have our intergity in this company.
Lastly, We apologise for any inconvenience cause to you and your love ones. I will personally look into this matter.
good to know
