  He graduated (with first class honours) from University of Southampton with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering after all.

  Maybe he's fed up with the Ilmor-Mercedes fireworks - which cost McLaren the championship in 2000, 2003 and 2005.

  Apparently Newey wanted a wage increase from 6 million pounds to 10 million quid, according to Alan Henry, and Ron had long planned ahead in case of his departure. Yet he and Horner insist it isn't about the money...rather the former wanted a new challenge working with a smaller team.
  
  Now Mike Gascoyne has been linked with McLaren, despite previously leaving the team ebcause of the 'corporate image'. Apparently he wants to spend more time with his family in England (Toyota Motorsport is based in Cologne, Germany).
