Whoever has detailed knowledge of the various competitions from Karting up to the Holy Grail of racing, you are welcome to share your knowledge here.

how detailed u want? i can give essay la but who is interested? rough guide can liao. and hor, there is no fixed ladder series hor. all i can say is: Karting, Junior Formula/Series, Senior Formula/Series, Formula 1 or equivalent
when i say F1 or equivalent, is because we're talking about racing in general here, which includes tin-top racing and rally racing, as well as other forms of lesser known racing categories. -

they get involved because thats where the talent hunting goes on. but there are no rules that says u MUST have done them b4 u can do F1, and if a driver is good enough, they WILL be noticed no matter which junior formula they choose to do. in fact there have been cases of some go karters who are offered a formula 1 test. of course due to the existing driver contracts in place in F1, seldom is there a ready berth in any of the teams, which is why teams who've spotted a potential driver usually put them into junior formulas to learn the ropes 1st. it still doesn't mean its a must to do any of them 1st.Originally posted by iveco:Most experienced drivers have been involved in at least one of these competitions before they were snapped up by the F1 teams. -
