  Currently, diesel cars and taxis are levied a lump sum Special Tax, regardless of the amount of diesel used. "At the same time, I will permanently reduce the annual Special Tax on diesel cars and taxis by $100 and $850 respectively. In this way, we shift from an annual amount of tax to one which is related to usage." For most drivers, the Special Tax reduction will offset the impact of the new diesel duty. "To help businesses adjust, I will provide 100 per cent road tax rebate for one year, and partial road tax rebate for another two years, for commercial diesel vehicles," said Mr Heng.

  When say something. Give full picture. Who going to pocket the rebate? I heard cdg already give sonata about $7 reduction in taxi rental per day. Hirer miam miam just keep it.

  Can you use your brain? Is Td owes the taxi? If yes, then yes. If no, then no. Since td pay rental, then the taxi owner collected the rental to pay road tax. The money to pay road tax still come from td. So in the end, isnt td pay the road tax? Now there is special n road tax rebate due to diesel tax. If td still pay same rental. But taxi company save road tax n special tax. Where is this saving go to?   'restructured' is a bombastic word , no need to use ao nice phrasing, just tell the public , diesel will cost more can leow , haha

  Yes, some taxi companies, like TC and premier, I think they have reduce daily rental by $2++. But it could be a temporary measure to defray cost.
