Of course if your bank ba ba, than go lor, if you bank ba ba, also no mood to drive taxi one la, SMLJ $5, $10, $20 fare? Let them rot la.......
Seriously, personally, I still think that taxi driving is for people who are struggling in daily life type, this are the people will be more serious in plying the road, if got money, why cum and drive taxi? Go do something more meaningful la.......
Keep choosing pax, choosing call, choosing location, choosing destination, when no money, see you can afford to choose or not lor.......
Taxi driving is for people who were forced to do a mid-career switch, for people who could not get a better job and for those who wants to have a car without having to pay for it.
After 45 if kena retrenched or released by SAF, what options do people have? Most would not want to take up too low paying jobs or go under younger superiors. Mike Yeo and Professor Chua (in the taxi movie) are two real examples of problems Singaporeans face. Also cannot idle at home for too long so driving taxi is a good backup option for Singaporeans. At least when driving taxi, money goes up instead of going down.
Pax is cannot choose one but calls is can choose one (reasons we all know very well). If no money that time, also will choose calls ones otherwise would make less than supposed to make (eg, kena that type return trip no customers type or too far away from current location type).
new bird can oso become lau jiao

Got cover entire range .... I also said it is for those who could not get a better job.
The fact remains, 80% of taxi drivers are 50 or above. I below 50 also got promoted to "uncle" status ( even Ah So calls me uncle ) as customers are so used to addressing taxi drivers as uncles.
Comfort, Transcab and SMRT still got a lot of unrented taxis and many hirers are also looking for reliefs so do not worry about not enough jobs for you guys. A lot of companies also looking for Class-4 and Class-5 drivers and it is relatively cheap to get a Class-4/5 license compared to what it cost to get a Class-3 license. Many companies also willing to employ below 45 drivers especially those who were MT Line drivers when serving National Service. Those young type who got to supervisor or manager levels do not like older employees because it is like ordering their father or uncles to do this and that and therefore like to employ younger employees. It is like in SAF 2LTs don't like to ask WOs to do things but like to ask CPLs or below to do things and WOs do not like to go under 2LTs or LTAs but prefer to go under older CPTs, MAJs and LTCs.

That's your own perspective, doesn't apply to all.......
In SAF, hierarchy system is always in place there, why 2LT don't like to ask WOs to do things? If there's a need, why not? Of course you won't ask a WO go wash toilet right?.......
2LTs or LTAs usually still in their junior term, they need the expertise of WOs knowledge and experience in order to command and control their platoons, in the other way round, WOs need the junior officers to nurture the mentality of the soldiers, where got like or don't like de?......
Back to taxi......
Where you get the statistic of 80% of TD are 50 or above?........
Alamak why bring up SAF again? The recent news, made me feel good about how I chao keng all the way in NS. It was really true. Bo keng beh chut peng.
Anyway besides this, I only realised recently how property agents can end up becoming a developer. Was very inspired that they could still close one unit every week, selling terrace homes they co-developed to high net worth individuals, even in the current market.
Too bad when I was younger, I never saw this connection. Never realised property agents actually got a 'career progression'.

TD not capped at O Levels.... Requirements if I believe is at least D7 at O levels English (same as Poly entry requirements except Poly at lease 3 O levels passes and at least D7 in English, there are very successful people who used to fail English at O-levels in the old days [then whole Singapore O-Level English passing rate below 40%]).
At least O levels requirements jobs many including SAF Officiers (old days SSGs can crossover to CPT position), Singapore Presidential Candidate, CEO of organization with assets higher than 10 billion.
Like pilot position says at least A levels but higher than A levels also can do.
Like air stewardess's position at least O levels but A levels and degree holders also can apply.
Like Manager's position at least O levels but A levels, poly and degree holders also can apply.
So TD not only for O levels people but also for above O levels.

Many 2LTs and LTAs are classmates or schoolmates of CPLs or belows too.... so no need to nurture the mentality. In SAF, it is use rank to command. The only difference is 9 months training and rank difference.
I CPL only as non-signed on conscript solder....went back for reservist saw my classmate MAJ rank signed on solder. His IPPT in school also not as good as me one. Only difference is he climbed the SAF ladder and I climbed the civilian ladder.
Like the 19 year old 2LTs don't like to ask the 40 years old Enciks to do things one and feel uncomfortable and only feels comfortable asking the lower ranked 3SGs or below to do. Hierarchy is such a way such that Encik reports to OC (normally CPT or above) and Encik and 2LTs treat each others as same-level collegues who joinly command those 3SGs and below.
2LTs don't like to command SWOs. and WO1s ones and SWOs and WO1s don't like to be commanded by 2LTs. If 2LTs ask WO1 to do things, WO1 would ask him to ask someone else to do it and give excuses not to do it.

In sg u need $$$ if you suddenly lost income n drive taxi can fill the interim gap.
Cannot drives for a career.
Reserved for o levels n below is a saying in the past.
Times bad a lot of car owners now moonlight as uber driver. If got no pte car then moonlight as TD. I hope govt can ensure TD reserve 4 Singaporeans. The current climate force many educated Singaporeans to drive for a living. No choice lah…u used to earn 5k as an executive but now being offered a 2.5k salary. So taxi driving fill the gap…4k a month is sup sup water.
Aiya we actually do not received 4 a month salary if you pro-rate to employee salaries. After factoring in loss of 17% CPF, loss of 1 months holiday, loss of 3 months bonus and longer than 8.8 hours per day, we are more or less like people earning $2.5K too. Only difference is we have better cash-flow since less money goes into CPF accounts (only medisave).

Young junior officers scare of subarlterns parade, WO still liable to be charge by junior officers......
Since you proclaim you are only CPL in rank during service, than many things you might not know, so don't assume......

At least in Air Stewardess position, if you are there, they face the same problem as our TD and maybe worst than us, still got competition from foreign influential also.......
