I 2nd ur opinion.
However, unlike a desktop, netbook upgrade and parts replacement are rather limited. Gotta weigh in the age as well becoz U cant just "upgrade" it's screen and repairing of "old/obsolete" parts actually cost as much as the newer parts becoz old parts are getting harder to come by. An example would be PC RAMs between DDR2 and DDR3...

8gb RAM and SSD on a netbook...?
I do not know what is your spec for ur current existing netbook (I'm not sure on netbook/lappy mobos). But adding in 8 gb and SSD would seem like adding a turbo charger on a beetle. Not that it cannot perform though but I think getting a proper laptop might be better.
One that comes with reasonably 8 gb and SSD... SSD really plays a big part over improvement of performance... U'll be shocked at the hibernate/wake up speed...
Uhh.... dude, I am getting a proper notebook to replace my netbook.
I'm planning to increase the RAM in the notebook to 8 GB, and switch the HDD to SSD.
if i ever replace my netbook...probably settle on one of the tablets since i hardly use it for anything more than surfing the net

I'm telling you, it's the Batcave under construction.
The Batwing alone takes up a lot of space, you know.....
Mr Brown just posted an angry letter that Daniel Ong wrote regarding his neighbour's renovations. He clearly doesn't have it as bad as you do.

Ah yes I read that one.
Frankly speaking, for him to insinuate that an elderly neighbour had died because of the noise and dust was a very, very low blow.
He could have just written a polite letter to the family asking them to help address problems caused by the renovation. But with this sort of letter, he's going to get a huge backlash.
Anyway, parallels can be made between the rants of Daniel Ong and Amy Cheong. Amy could have simply gone down to the wedding, talked to the parents of the bride/groom, and politely asked them to ask the DJ to turn down the volume a little.
Most likely they would have apologised profusely for the noise, turned the volume down, and asked her to help herself to the mutton briyani at the buffet table.
And she would still have a job come Monday.

As a society this is where we've failed. We're so averse to confrontation that we try to cut out face-to-face meetings as far as possible and turn to social media or higher powers like the police or MPs to express our grievances. The issue gets blown out of proportion sometimes as it did with AC, and also with the dying man and his cats.
As you say, a lot of trouble can be save with a short walk and a civilised conversation. We left our ability to empathise and our EQ behind somewhere along the road to prosperity.

Some are just rant-goes-wrong. Thinking that one can simply just rant on the cyberspace and into the sea of unknown...
It doesn't work that way...
Anyway currently fighting the ZZZ demons over at my end. Extremely tough to keep awake by reading stale papers >___>
It's something like what I tell my students in the first lesson of the semester. I tell them that if they have any problems with my teaching (e.g. I speak too fast, the fonts on my PPT slides are too small, etc), they should just raise the issue with me.
I would take no offence as long as they are polite, and I would be able to address the issue on the spot. Everyone's happy.
But no, some students just want to keep quiet and then frag me in the end-of-semester appraisals of the teaching staff.
Seriously, if the semester's already over, what am I supposed to do? Board my DeLorean, go back in time, knock out my past self, then address the issues?
2 hour nap today was good except for the darn cold call from hsbc mid way!
anyone seen elindra???

okay.. as for "bo lui", you guys have a think about this..
what i see at work are flights coming in, and in quite a few flights, more crew than passengers come down.. the volume is down so much we're all wondering what the hell is going on..
to add to this, SIA froze hiring of cadet pilots and are cutting down flying time...
Lau Lee's son has been talking shit about "slowdown" and not "recession".. in the meantime, the idiots in power are leaking a lot of money attempting to maintain white elephant infrastructure like the goddamned "super trees" and other shit like the goddamned "largest stadium" while you see roads with larger and larger potholes, patchwork asphalt... and lots of other critical things being ignored for the high profile things..
to add to this, the amount of money they have to pay out for the CPF and the suspicion that they pilfered the CPF money to shore up Temasek is getting louder even though i hope they did not do it and there is no evidence despite the shroud of opaqueness about the CPF funds...
look at the mess they are in when they "have to" import more foreigners on flimsy excuses in order to shore up the property prices and to generate more GDP...
there is a lot more their screwed up policies show if you bother to think about why they are doing it, and all of them reveal they have no idea what to do, and are just putting in stop-gap plans to tide them over the short term, damn the long term consequences...
it is frightening..
