seriously palm oil is not as evil as wat HPB or whoever claimed..
palm oil has Vit E, somemore it's e only decent cheapo oil worth for frying.
if it's really evil, then I think they can ban Lux or Palmolive soap le.

one day, when the oil runs out, we may really have too ....unless we want to go back to using candles .......
engineering is improving constantly ..... just like jet aircraft .... once upon a time, it is dangerous to fly .... nowadays, we don't give it much of a thought ...
the reactor in japan was built more than 40 years ago, technology would have improved since then.

the day may come a lot more quickly than we think ....
cos we're dependent on oil for not just energy alone ..... it is also the foundation of the chemical industries ..... plastics, polymers, assorted carbon, graphite composites etc ..... it's all oil based .....
in anycase, it's good that the goverment is thinking so strategically, 50, 60 years from now.

The fanatics will tell you that it has to be virgin coconut oil and not the processed type that's full of transfat. Palm oil and most other vegetable oils are not stable under high heat, and most of the vitamins are destroyed when you fry with it.
I prefer death by lard rather than death by coconut or palm oil ......

well, palm oil is considered to be more stable than other common oils that we're using in S'pore. Canola, Sunflower or watever wun give you e texture.
The only prob w/ palm oil is in cold condition.

Which are by-productions from refining oil
In any case with all the alternative energy sources coming up I would say maybe 50,60 years which I should be dead by then
