Its just a tragic occurence all around.
If they wanted to shoot him they could have done so plenty of times.
If the tourists were to overpower the hostage taker they could have done so.
If the two negotiators were to grab him they could.
If someone up along the chain of command decided to call in the "real" Special Forces they could.
Someone really has to be held responsible. It was a clusterfuck. really.
Not trying to be an armchair general, but what I would have done would be to ring the bus with snipers with orders to take down the bugger as soon as they could get a clear shot. After all, some hostage-taking dude with a loaded M16 is a clear and present danger.
Actually, the snipers were deployed, and a sniper did take out the tango.... but that was after, like, ten hours when it turns out that the bugger had already shot hostages....
Shucks, man.... if they had a brilliant plan for storming the bus, I would have understood.... but watching them trying to storm the bus was really, really cringing.
They were smashing in the windows to throw in lightsticks. WTF?
does anyone know how to turn off the advert in sgforums with the super loud sound effect? like turn off permanently?

actually err... if a human being is being skinned and gutted.. provided its all done immediately and not after rigor mortis set in.... I think the human being will also kind of jerk too.
I mean I've read when human beings had been beheaded, the body jerks a few times before it stops... i mean.. even when the head is not attached to the body and all that.

go watch what the filipino side have to say now abt the investigations etc so frustrating to watch...
there are a couple of instruction videos on how to deal with active shooter scenarios on youtube. simple and effective, everyone shld learn.
The guys onboard the flight that crashed into the pensylvania fields tried to do so.
What i think was the guy wasnt really a threat to them in their eyes. I think the whole incident was handled badly by the local authorities.
Cant bear to watch. the rescue video was really painful enough already.
OHHHHH!!!
MEKONG GIANT FRESHWATER SHRIMP!!!

all my colleagues desserted office and went to somewhere safe. returned to office after a few days..... one of the artist manager was at a hotel nearby, when it happened, he ran for his life too as the place shook.. he literally ran over dead bodies on the road..

They are just street cops who are not trained and equipped to deal with this scenario.
They tried to smash the windows and doors with their sledge hammer but realised there was an emergency door and door cock to open the doors. They threw the lightstick 3 times and finally managed to get it inside, till now, i wonder what for.
I could literally see them panting. It was raining heavily. I dont blame them.
Its the dude who call the shots in his aircon room prolly deciding this. this fella shld be responsible.
and I thought the mumbai incident was bad .......

it's all e planning.
reminds me of SQ117
actually my mom said that the ex-policeman meant no harm to the pple cos he so willingly let some go. things only started going downhill when the bus moved and the police shot the wheels. then the dude started firing in the bus...
shromeow: i've also been told that when our organs are taken for donation right after we die, we can actually feel pain. i think the jerking bit has to do with nerves? i have no idea. >.<
they did not have the trained group of professionals to deal with the multiple situations.
Our local authorities conducted ex northstar in response to the incident of multiple active shooter incidents around the island.
in this situation, they had the right grp of ppl. but strangely, the call never came.

Time to download firefox for my netbook.... no wonder I only get the ad when I use my netbook and not when I use my other laptop...bah!
i hate pple who go to 'poorer' places and make a big deal when they realize they also have electricity etc
okto showing old places...awww... i wanna go visit them again..
it isnt just the operation but also the handling of the whole incident for eg, communication and dealing with the media, was so fked up.
i know first hand our guys are capable of handling this kinda incidents.
It is never 100% certain that no one will die in the operation, but as we have seen, it could have been so much more well planned and executed.

I don't know about the organs thingy... but I guess the whole point of dying is ... err to err you know finally reach expiry date. The good thing about us human beans is we can remove the pineapple from our cans, put it in new cans with new expiry dates! hoho and it can still be 'fresh' hoho!
i read abt some people who are knocked out by the drugs during operation but they can still feel the pain. They just cant scream or move or react to it. OUCH!
