anyway, sometimes i wonder how some companies work...
i just got a courier-delivered "extended warranty" for an A3 colour printer which we have not received yet.. and according to the tech fellas, not due to be delivered for a couple of weeks
Frig..... one of the devices I'm using is permanently tied into a workstation which uses.... Windows NT Workstation.
It has USB ports, but the OS cannot read thumbdrives on a plug-and-play basis..... all it has is a 3.5" floppy drive.....
I was forced to visit three different NUS Co-Ops just to find floppy disks!
Then later when I need to transfer the data over to my thumbdrive (and subsequently my netbook) I gotta visit another computer lab which has both floppy drives and WinXP in their workstations.... sheesh.....

Yeah I know..... I think I bought some of the last floppies NUS still has in stock......
Damn..... I still remember using 5.25-inch floppies back in primary school.

I used to require 7 of those 5.25 inch black floppies just to install Ultima 7 The Black Gate on MS Dos...
bring back fond memories...

i remember MS-DOS5.0 was only 3 5.25 floppies
am running 2 lappies at the moment - the usual one for work and the netbook for surfing here

well, maybe I remembered wrongly...
Either Ultima 7 or Wing Com had the largest size back then...
I've recently tried to dl Sim City 2000 to play... 2+MB and I cant even install coz not compatible with win 7~
Wing Commander 2 was great.. but the last goddamned battle, it was 45 minutes of dogfighting with the *$&#^ enemy ace

When you think about it, there has been no true successor to the 3.5-inch floppy.
Zip disks were promising, but Zip drives were expensive, and Iomega held on tightly to its patent instead of licensing it out to other companies.....
CD-RWs were next, but you needed separate CD-burning software for them......
Thumbdrives are now the most common, but they're just too expensive to be passed from hand to hand.....
