Did the show include a musical sequence with the male protagonist wooing his love interest by singing and spinning around a tree trunk?

no lah.. it's about the school teacher who discovered the poor kid (who was pressured by his parents to do well in studies), encouraged / guided kid to improve on his way to recognise the text, found his real talent in drawing... moved on the right path and appreciated by school teachers and schoolmates..
very well done show..
how's your Japan tour....ENVYYYYY

When he was alive, my grandfather in Malaysia used to watch a lot of Indian movies, especially the musicals. As far as I can recall, every one that I happened to catch him watching featured a musical sequence involving the main male and female characters singing and dancing around the base of a large tree. That impression of Indian movies has stuck with me ever since.
I'm currently in Tokyo. Came up this morning to attend the Tokyo Anime Fair 2010 and will be spending the night here; tomorrow, I'm hitting Akihabara for most of the day, then taking the Shinkansen back to Osaka in the afternoon or early evening. I've put up a few more images in the SO thread, in case you're interested.
