I remember the Occupational Health and Safety Officer who was training us on safe methods of transferring and lifting patients telling us that the hospital is considering imposing a weight limit for patients upon admission because the beds, hoists, wheelchairs, trolleys, and even wall-mounted toilet bowls, etc all have a weight limit. If we accept patients heavier than what these equipments, furniture and tools can take, the patient might end up injured, and the nurse(s) usually kena injured alongside them too.
I'd hate to be squashed under some of them!!
I guess coz you get big and fat Americans who look like you need a fork lift to lift them up -_-

Actually, we DO have 'mini forklifts' in the ward used for hoisting patients up!
One agency nurse told us before that in another hospital she worked in, the patient was too huge for any hoists the hospital had, so the hospital actually hired a mini industrial-grade 'forklift' to hoist the patient up! Harharhar!!
There are patients so large that when we press the controls to put the head portion of the bed up or lift up the height of the entire bed, the bed squeals and shakes!

Tell you guys this really unbelievable story my patient told me yesterday...
She met her husband when they were teenagers (they are in their early 50's now). However, they lost touch and ended up marrying others. They both had one son and one daughter, and through sheer freaking coincidence, they both named their sons Rod and their daughters Rebecca!!
Years later, their marriages failed and they got divorced. A chance meeting brought them together, they dated, re-ignited the spark they shared as teenagers, and married each other! So now, in their household, they have two sons, both named Rod and two daughters, both named Rebecca!
You tell me, is it amazing or not?She says she and her husband complete each other's sentences and know what the other is thinking before anyone utters a word.
