well ... depending on the views, I think jewellery makes pretty good investments .....
they have intrinsic value, are easily to carry, easy to dispose of ... and goes up in value during a recession .....
so ... maybe buying wifey a $30k ring isn't really money down the drain after all ....

because they aren't actually worth that much before they reach the jewellers anyway..
the jewellers then scalp you before killing people and setting them on fire...

yes they do ....
when inflation strikes, that and precious metals are the only thing that holds their value ...
look at any place with hyper inflation or super recession .... your mansions are worth nothing, your cars are worth nothing, but the little baubles on the fingers would get you through ....
so yeah ... I think it's not completely a waste of money ... if given to the right dearling ..... it's like a rainy day insurance policy you can stare at every day ....

heh. I like the plain designs..like the type where you have a single tiny diamond inlaid into the ring..so nothing is sticking out at all. saw it in some japanese drama I watched recently. -

if you want to get diamonds for investments, don't go for fancy cuts, make sure it's not "chipped" (with flaws inside) ... go for the best grades, and make sure it comes with a cert ...
it's the perfect "pack in a purse and run" kind of thing .... much lighter than gold ... a fortune in diamonds can be carried in a purse, an equivalent fortune in gold in a suitcase would be too heavy to carry ....

Its usually because of the settings and the design that the jewellers charge very expensive..

Had a thunderstorm here and can see lighting flying here and there...some of the areas had their power shut down bcos of this sudden thunderstorm. The view from the car was amazing yet scary and I was thinking I am lucky for not getting strike by the lighting. Must be all the good things I have done recently lol

If you talk about gold or other precious stones like sapphires and rubies and emeralds(real ones with no enhancements) maybe still can but still risky
Diamonds have virtually no resale value
