Sister returned with a story about the Chinese driver on 855 this morning...he nearly drove onto the Lornie Flyover because he was in the first lane most of the time, honked when he realised his mistake and cut 3 lanes to get to the bus stop opposite St Theresa's Home.
He missed another stop and let the passenger alight in the second lane in his muddle-headedness. First day at work, apparently. -

Hmm.... China is left-hand drive all right....
Anyway, why can't the whole world just follow the British right-hand drive system? It's based on pure common sense dating from ancient times.
Apparently, when you want to walk past someone, you want him to pass on your right so that if he turns out to be hostile, you can quickly take out your sword and face him.
Likewise, it was easier to mount a horse by placing your left foot on the stirrup and throwing your right leg over the horse since your sword would be on your left. As such, your horse would have to be on the left side of the road.
Carriages didn't change anything.... to prevent the driver's whip from accidentally hurting passersby, the carriage would have to go on the left side of the road.
The British system is just pure common sense.

It's trickier with cars though. In RHD, you're changing gears with your left hand, and the throttle pedal has to be offset to the left because of the wheelarch housing.

well, I think left hand drive is more intuitive ....
you shift with your masterhand (for most people), and at uncontrolled junctions, you only need to watch out for traffic at one direction ...
when turning, most often you'd be turning with the traffic, not into it either ...

hey, my friend almost got run over by a car.. when he was on the pavement... thing is, the car was from the other side of the road... went over centre cardboard concrete divider, against the flow of traffic (2 lanes) and onto the pavement
