now their jobs are being outsourced to some country associates who refuse to answer emails, get jobs done, and lack certain facilities that are crucial to the outsourced jobs, for example, a phone line

Many of our customer hotlines, etc have now been outsourced to India and the PI. What makes it hard is speaking to Indians and Filipinos who have thick accents. Sometimes it just makes it that much harder. What gets me is that all our information is now in foreign hands. ID theft freaks me out.

I guess $$$ is the bottom line.
But some people are just too stupid to take productivity into account as well.
What's the point of outsourcing if productivity will drop to a greater extent than the savings reaped by cheaper labour?
In other news, I've just booked a pit for my class reunion. $16.
Dang.... I thought I was being prudent by booking one month early. Turns out that the best pits at ECP were all snapped up. I had to choose one closer to Big Splash.

I've cancelled many store credit cards, so now I only have two. It really is sickening you know. Some things I can't cancel, like my cellphone provider. Bloody hell, I spent an hour talking to customer service in bloody Manila. Accent so thick!!!

actually, how does outsourcing of call centres to other countries save money? the cost of the telecommunications would probably kill whatever profit margin?

Many as in four. Accumulated over 10+ years. Opened and forgotten.
I guess the way they save is in labour costs, insurance costs, utility costs and the like for a brick and mortar call center in the US.

he ran his country to the ground.. inflation is at 5 digits, there is nothing left in the country, and his people are going around terrorising the opposition with violence and mayhem...
i'm not sure if he actually knows what's going on or he's just kept deluded by his massive entourage.. either way, at 86 he should just go away.. something Lau Lee should figure out too...

at the cost of their customer base...anyway, my organisation's call centre outsourcing has ground to a halt at the moment.. the recommendation put up is that it's idiotic to outsource...
thing is, someone really high up will push for it again.. just like they did a few years ago.. same findings...
give it a few years, when the idiots really high up change (it's like musical chairs up there!) they'll inflict us with the same thing again and we'll spend a crapload of time and effort "researching" the thing.. and coming up with the same findings and recommendations again...
thing is, i hope the subsequent officers doing the research are as meticulous and actually care for the organisation.... not like the asswipes who did the outsourcing of our despatch functions..
they retrenched all the drivers who were doing more than despatch... and then they outsourced the despatch to a company which sent one scrawny fella in a small van...
suddenly, everything we were doing which required transportation ground to a total stop... every section which required transportation had to go source their own vendors and transport!
i bet the whole thing will cost the organisation more money and cause us to do more work...
but the one who outsourced that function just padded his CV..
