Will it give a bad impression to your employer if you take leave/ MC at the beginning (Mon) or end (Fri) of the week?

if you are really ill, why should the employer be?
and leave? your boss approve one right? -
It's normal to want to stretch one's weekend by taking Mon and/or Fridays off...I do it all the time.

dont think so unless you are in some japanese company or have a japanese boss who is 'cat' about taking leave and MC.

I dun think so. Everyone who's working naturally wants to take leave on a Fri or Mon to stretch the weekend mah.... I've just taken Non & Tue off - returning to office tml!

hee... thanks for the replies.. coz think the admin 'noticed' that i took a lot of Fri's leave... so felt a bit 'guilty'

actually they will notice if you have taken numerous MCs, and your MC is taken often on Fridays, Mondays, or near public holidays.
Especially if your company is a smaller company, it will directly be feedbacked to your boss and, yes, it will give your employer a bad impression UNLESS you also show that you are a very good worker otherwise.
I'm not sure how bigger companies work, and if HR would inform direct supervisor about it. But I suspect in bigger companies, this would go more easier unnoticed.
But yes.. many supervisors notice stuff like that. Err so unless really sick.. if wanna keng MC.. must 'distribute' ur long weekends a bit la. -

so far so good,
last year my Uk colleagues want to kick me home to rest whenever I turn up to work sickie as a meow...
so far, i have not been sickie for almost 1 year...
today, i am finally doing the sniff sniff....all giving me the "haha...u finally sick" smile.. wah laoo...

the only time when I took mc was I was shivering in bed though it was a hot day and my temperature sky-rocketed..... and that was a year ago....
Think I may be entitled to my bonus flexi$ again this year for not taking MCs -
if done consistently, it may eventually become a consideration when appraisal comes

If u are good with what u do at work, no one really care if u take load of MC.... but if u aint or got a crappy boss, what u do look bad in his/her eyes...

Yes, it does gives a bad impression.
Especially if you are not really sick.
You took MC/leave either for travel or because you didnt rest well on your Sundays and is caught not resting and thus you need Monday away from work.
That shows you arent committed to your job. -
IMO if you need the rest, you need the rest - the MC is justified. A person's well-being is not just defined by the absence of illness; it is emotional, mental health, recuperation from exertion, etc.
But then this is coming from someone would like to take leave and MC with shameless abandon -

but got some employers unless u come in bleeding half to death, they'll never be convinced u r seriously sick one. -
my ex-boss also like that one. Sometimes I take MC until so dubious, but he too dun really care, as long as the piece of MC come, he'll approve it.
but, SOME bosses do look at the MC rate.
Had a ex-manager, he actually received a call from a friend from another company, checking up on a employee whom was previously from my company. It's not an official background check, so it's illegal, but anyway the first thing this ex-manager informed, was about the MC rate of this employee.

yes yes. Had a staff who wanna to fake an MC and went to the doc's. Ended she broke down and told the doc all is well but she is very stressed out by work.
