fudgester, y'know something, I kinda suspected that.Originally posted by fudgester:I was at the receiving end of bullies back in school.
Heck, I was still at the receiving end of bullies even when I was in the army.

I was still bullied when I was a PTE. I was the only A Level graduate in my platoon... most of the other men saw me as an 'elite', 'scholar', and what have you. The thing is, I didn't treat or see any of them differently, and indeed I got along very well with the few men who were able to see past my academic qualifications.Originally posted by InnoHippo:time to tough up ur sweet character, bullies grow up to become ur colleagues in the future

Humans are intelligent beings. We all fight for our survival. If we grew up in mountains of garbage, we will do what is necessary to survive. However, we all grew up in a buzzling city, and we are all doing whatever we can to survive.Originally posted by the Bear:yeah... you see how the majority of the world lives and are thankful for what you have...
for those who will contemplate, they will see that the things in life which they are usually whining about, complaining about.. are trivial..
like the little child who manages to smile, to dare to hope for a better tomorrow and joy, while surrounded by a mountain of garbage.. what are our problems compared to his?
so, we don't get that promotion.. we don't get a parking lot.. we don't get a bigger house, bigger car..
he's looking for the next scraps so that he can afford to eat for the day..
yet he dares to hope, has the courage to smile..
what does that say about our cloistered society?

After I became a 3SG the bullying suddenly stopped. They were all scared of my exacting revenge on them (which I didn't, of course).
Which goes to show that bullies have an inferiority complex... they feel inferior to others and try to bully others to assert that they're not all that inferior after all.
And they've cowardly enough to go only for soft targets.

And once that's accomplished, we will have the means to actually help and not just sit around talking about helping, which won't be much more than lofty ideas and ideals, really.
