*me mysteriously appears in a flash of lightning*
I got caught in the rain on the way to school.
My upper body remained dry thanks to my umbrella, but my shoes and lower legs were soaking wet.
I was forced to borrow a pair of slippers from a friend of mine who stays in Raffles Hall as a result. However, I was still shivering quite a lot throughout the paper just now.

Hmmm....something worth a mention.
Last thursday, was meeting my father and I made that angmoh boi tag along cos i tought to introduce him to father and hopefully father can take on that lost boi as a apprentice in his business.
Father's business involved building shipyards, repairing fishing boat engines and buy and sell generators to negotiating for gold sand digger ships & timber.
Father dont want me involved in the business because he felt that its no place for a female. The only female in these oily, dirty, rough & tumble industry was a old fiesty lady with lots of capital support and strong macho backings.
and no matter what, females in the shipping engineering business has still some kind of taboo. (mind you, there is still malaysian kelongs that will refuse females from boarding their kelongs.)
So I tot to bring him a apprentice who will also need his help to venture out into a new work environment.
ANYWAY......I was being lor soh.....
Father and angmoh boi chit chatted and it turns out his late mother was a peranakan. From Malacca.
Father then mentioned that one of our grandmothers is also peranakan from Malacca.
No wonder my sister has brown hair and light brown eyes.
Though all of us looks distinctly chinese/japanese. -

And what do you get in return? Some social schemes for the people? BTW, is there free healthcare in Oz? I know it's free in UK, even for my Sg colleague who had to have his arm bandaged at the hospital while in UK. -

I have credits for three years of GST and three years of school fees paid .... plus a myraid of goverment incentive thingys, plus credit for graduating from a university in the first place .... plus tax breaks for being a young resident in the province, plus I get deductibles for transport to work, for my rent, etc etc .....
I got a headache going through all that pile ... so I'm paying C$200+ for the services of a personal accountant .... -

For my hubby, he's in IT so he can claim tax for his pc magazine subscription, computer hardware/software etc.
No, the health care is not free. We have what we call medicare and we have to pay a levy on it based on our income. The government nowadays tries to encourage people to have private health insurance. You pay higher levy if you don't have private health insurance.
My hubby and I have private health insurance and it cost us about $1500 annually. The private health insurance provides private hospital covers, dental, optometrist, physio etc. -

I must say it's a bit bothersome to keep, and keep track of every single piece of receipt .... but you do it cos
1. you may get divorced one day (a likely event given the statistics), and you'll need to show proof of matrimonial assets, or assets acquired jointly during the union, and before ....
2. chances are, the taxman will give you something back for that $20 gas fill, or that yard work ....
3. you can return that set of socket wrenches 90 days later, after you've fixed your car .....

That's a lot of claims for fatum and honeymouse. Imagine if in Sg we can claim for car expenses. ...ahahaha!
So, in the end, how much % tax can you expect to pay, and save?
