Have anyone read the latest news about the recent fatal shooting in the States?
The guy apparently sent in a package (with video, photos, notes) to NBC "documenting" what he was going to do between the shooting..... So sad to know how much hatred one person can have towards others.

i paid for my old VAIO notebook in cash..
because i think there is some moneylaundering going on with that shop in Sim Lim.. they didn't take credit card... and NETS won't allow that much to be transferred in a day.. so when the transaction was in cash

I always get a bit worried after leaving the money changer with the foreign currency before going on a holiday. Scared I get robbed. -

no.. as always, i do my homework before any major purchases.. so i got ready the $$ before going there...
anyway, the largest amount of money i carried in my pockets was about $14,000
i was treasurer of the Rec Club then and all the bloody reps decided to give me the money collected for a tour during the meeting.. IN CASH!
i didn't mind it because i've always kept the books damned well so much so that the auditors didn't even have to ask me anything at all...
but walking to the bank with $14,000 in my pockets.. it was hilarious when i went to the bank to bank in the $$.. i kept digging out $$

however, the reason for that has long died.. the constitutional right to bear arms for the US is that if the government becomes despotic and uses their army against the people or the government doesn't speak for the people anymore, the people can, with the force of their arms, remove the government by force...
that is the reason for the right to bear arms...
but in today's context, AK47s and 9mm Glocks are useless against the army's M1 Abrams...

The company my sister works in used to withdraw a big amount of cash (over $20k) from the bank for paying the employees.
They did that for a while until one day they got robbed. -

was in a bigass discussion with friends over lunch.. one of them has the view that if everyone else is doing it, we should not begrudge those who want to join in... even if it is totally unethical and may end up causing the end of the world as we know it....
in other words, the US is now the greatest polluter in the world.. China will overtake them earlier than forecasted...
in his mind, we should not begrudge China the pollution because they are trying to "develop" themselves...
i'm thinking.. we're about 10 years left on earth before the population/resources ratio goes to hell and there will be exponential depletion of resources until a great die-out of life on the planet..
but.. because it is hard to stop and change what we are doing now, we will keep going until we fall into the abyss which we know is there but those who run the ship refuse to acknowledge?
to me, it's like now with our gabrament... they refuse to see what is going on with our elderly collecting cans.. and all they want to do is to increase their own pay..
to the guy, "you don't expect the gabrament to look after them"... i went "huh?".. they are humans.. not bloody statistics... then the rationalisation and justification came in.. "they don't want to be trained.. blah blah.." and i'm going.. trained? huh?? wtf??
it is sad when a person, with children, blinds himself and toes the line of society because simply, everyone else is doing it.. even when he knows deep down inside it's all wrong...
have we become like that?

I've thought about this b4 and came to realised that there are some older, poor folks who are left behind by the so-called progress in Sg society. Even with their low level or lack of education, they used to be able to make a decent (though not well-off) living by doing menial jobs, sell stuff, whatever, but now some of these jobs are gone....why? So...they are being "left behind" as a result of govt policies, so the govt does have a duty to look after them. The govt can't leave them out just bec they are no longer economically productive. -

Just read the crap in the young pap blog for an idea of the mindset of our supposedly top elite talent. The Wee Shu Min affair is to me, barely scratching the surface as far as general attitute of the elite towards the ordinary people is concerned.
Many involved in grassroots work do so only because their kids will be given preferential placement in popular schools, or have ambitions of rising up the rungs of the PAP. Some aspire to be invited to run for elections. Few give any thought that they are supposed to be serving the people, not the other way round.
National Education is obviously a complete and utter failure.
There is a reason for political apathy. It must be nice not to see a red mist everytime you read the papers or watch the news, to the point where it affects your general outlook on life.

this is exactly my point... we are not chattel to be cast aside when we have been drained of all our use..
but i think some do think so...
that it is not the responsibility of the Ministers (and i still hold them to the meaning of that word.. "to serve" ) to help them...
